Our corporate identity has the “ExP person” right in the centre to emphasise our people concept. I had a deep interest in Marketing whilst studying Business and Finance at college. Marketing, and its crucial role in the success of every business, fascinated me: I knew I wanted to run my own business one day. I spent the majority of my early career in IT Marketing and Sales functions for medium size enterprises, where I gained a broad range of skills in both areas. I enjoyed being involved in the creation of various marketing campaigns, from concept through to implementation. In recent years, I finally got the opportunity to start my own venture and I launched a successful Terrarium workshop business. However, it was impacted by the pandemic, which had lead me to create Blue Fern Consult. I am passionate about entrepreneurs, start ups and SME’s; passionate about helping facilitate their business objectives through simple, digital marketing strategies. I enjoy the consultative aspect of my work - delving into the core of businesses, finding out what their story is, deciding how I can help them find their digital voice - and making them standout from the crowd. The most fulfilling part of my work is the tangible benefits I deliver to my customers and their businesses, in a reasonably short space of time. I live in Surrey with my partner, our two sons and a variety of pets. When I’m not working or with my family, I can usually be found on a tennis court…

OUR BACKGROUND The story of Nova began in 2002. At that time, the founder of Nova, started his first humble furniture retail outlet of 3,000 square feet, Crawford Italia Pte Ltd, in Crawford Centre. A team of 4 staff worked for hand in hand to manage Crawford Italia which focuses on living room concept furniture retail. After a year of operations, the excellent sales performance of Crawford Italia motivated the team to consider taking on a bigger outlet to enable the business to grow. The success of the pioneer team with their accumulated experience in furniture retail & operations, in-depth understanding of the local furniture market and their entrepreneurial spirit to make things happen, propelled the team to take on a bold decision to take up a 20,000 square feet outlet in A-Z Building in Paya Lebar in 2003. That was the birth of Nova. Since then we never looked back; and by 2006, another 20,000 square feet outlet was taken up. This time round to cater to people in the West part of Singapore, in Tradehub 21 in Boon Lay Way. Following that, a 3rd outlet was opened in May 2008, in Sungei Kadut, north-west of Singapore. Our next new export outlet of 30,000 square feet in Ang Mo Kio, targeted for operations in Aug 08, will be serving residents in the North. Besides Singapore, plans are also in the pipeline to start our retail operations in Malaysia in end of 2008.

Jason West is the founder and chief creator of English Out There. He now has almost thirty years of self-employed experience in transformational English language teaching and learning. In 1992, at the age of 25, he co-founded an English language school in the heart of London’s West End and within two and half years the school achieved British Council accreditation (which annoyed a few people!). A long-standing interest in the psychology of learning lead Jason to feel that something could be done to improve the way his students acquired English. As a result he created the English Out There (EOT) course concept, where students engage directly with fluent or native speakers at every stage of their language development. The language laboratory in EOT's case was (and still is) the streets of London and members of the public (recently we have been experimenting successfully with handheld mobile technology and Google+ community pages). A lot of people have helped to create English Out There over the years. The principal EOT lieutenants have been Georgina Moon, Maria Stamati-Knipe and Jonathan Jones whilst Tim Bowen helped edit the materials for publication. After 250,000 hours of teaching and editing English Out There course materials were born. They can be used both offline and on. The online element came out of a fascination with social media and free internet telephony such as Facebook and Skype. An interesting quirk of their design is that they will work with any and all social media platforms, even those not yet invented! The inexpensive DRM-free course materials for students and teachers recently made the EU’s top 10 formal uses of social media for language learning and can be purchased online from this website. English Out There is the only English program we know of that posts 'before and after' audio and video proof of the amazing progress of real students. It is a truly transformational English course because learners who have tried and failed to speak English comfortably for years find that it helps them to break through their personal language barriers. ABOUT ME A Leadership Coach With A Difference I'm now an ICF accredited individual, group and team coach. But that isn't how I started out in life! I'm also a PhD research scientist and I've spent 16 years working in and leading academic and pharmaceutical drug discovery research teams. Most of that time I was thriving, but I reached a turning point where I often felt like I didn't fit, and I didn't know why. In part of my role I felt I was valued and doing well, but in another part I was constantly told to do things a different way and everything felt difficult and frustrating. So when I got the opportunity to train as a coach I jumped at it! Very quickly I realised I had a special talent for coaching. I was surprised to discover that a lot of apparently confident senior leaders struggled at work. and that I was able to help them in a way they had never experienced before. Even in those early days of coaching my clients commented on my calm, relaxing presence that made them feel they could be themself in our sessions and discuss things they never normally shared. The training also involved a lot of self development and group work, which helped me to figure out my situation. I started to understand why I wasn't happy in part of my job, yet loved the other part. A big part of this was discovering the concept of flow.
