Joy Townsend set up A11 Medical Services Ltd after being a volunteer with St John Ambulance for many years, decided to leave there as she no longer liked the new commercial set up, then worked with a Private Ambulance company for about 5 years as a General Manager and decided it was time to go it alone and start this company to help fill a gap within the Event First Aid Medical field & Training. This was becoming apparent with Event Organisers being let down by the ‘bigger’ National providers. So, this was the beginning of A11 Medical Services Ltd in 2019. Joy Townsend Managing Director Emergency Care Assistant (FREC4) with CERAD Qualification / Event First Aider / Trainer / IQA Joy has over 40 years experience in doing first aid and event medical cover across a diverse range of events throughout East Anglia. Examples include Norwich City Football, American Football, Marathons, the Royal Norfolk Show, Boxing, Horse Events of all types, Motor Sport (Bike/Car racing at Snetterton circuit and Motocross), Open Air Concerts and Village Fetes, plus much more. Joy is also an experienced Event Manager/Planner (including organising the levels of medical cover required and liaising with the event organisers & other clinical grades). As well delivering clinical skills at events, Joy has a proven track record in delivering quality training for Event Medical teams, plus first aid training to members of the public and the commercial sector. As well as holding the FREC 4 qualification, I also hold the level 3 Award in Supervising First Aid for Mental Health (RQF), Level 4 IQA, Infection Control, Dementia and the Level 3 Safeguarding of Children, Young People & Vulnerable Adults. My latest new qualification I have passed is L3 Certificate in Emergency Response Ambulance Driving (CERAD).

I have been instructing Mental Health First aid for the past 3 years. Having experience of dealings with the Mental Health Sector has helped me to bring the training to many organisations and indivuals throughout the area. I have worked within the Civil Service and Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service for a number of years. During my time within the Civil Service i have been a family liaison officer which includes having to deliver bad news to families, assessed people at risk of self harm or suicide and negotiated with people to resolve difficult incidents. I hold a BTECH Level 5 in Trauma Risk Incident Management to support staff following witnessing traumatic incidents.

Fox Wood Forest School was founded in April 2016 and registered as a not for profit company in November of the same year. The following aims are at the heart of what we do: to support both physical and mental wellbeing of all participants through time in nature, adventurous play and connection with others to encourage children and families to connect with nature through play and exploration, so that they might be the ones to protect it in future to create a haven for wildlife within our local community Meet the team - All of whom live locally in Roydon and Diss Ange - Director - Chair Forest school leader, teacher and mother of three. I am passionate about giving children the opportunity to learn through child led play. I taught for seven years mostly in Norfolk, I loved the buzz and excitement of working with children, but was frustrated by the constraints of the school curriculum, so after a break to have children I explored other avenues. Through Suffolk Wildlife Trust I discovered Forest School - I had finally found what I wanted to do! What I love most about Forest School is seeing children gain confidence, resilience and independence. Watching the look of determination on their faces as they persevere with something challenging and seeing their pride and smiles of joy when they succeed is really special. I became a Level 3 Forest School Leader because it encompasses everything I’m passionate about, play and nature! Forest school promotes this with a connection to nature, encouraging learners to explore and be adventurous with freedom. Both my boys have benefitted hugely from forest school, improving their wellbeing and independence. I love to see them fully engaged in the natural world and confident to try new things, unplugged and free to play!
