About this Training Course This 5 full-day course has been designed to develop skills in understanding the geometry and petrophysical characteristics of carbonate reservoirs. Depositional fabric, grain type and size and subsequent diagenetic modifications are the major controls on carbonate reservoir behaviour. The complex inter-relationship of the depositional and burial history can be unravelled to allow prediction of reservoir facies and reconstruction of three-dimensional reservoir models. This course will demonstrate the value of the reservoir model in volumetric assessment and development of carbonate reservoirs. *Previous knowledge of carbonate sedimentology is not required. Course Content in Summary: Carbonate reservoirs: Basic principles; depositional concepts; grain types; textures and fabrics; environmental reconstruction. The reservoir model - depositional and diagenetic characteristics: Sabkha/tidal flat; lagoon; shelf; reef (rudist and coral/algal); barrier/shoal; slope and redeposited; aeolian and lacustrine; karst plays. Carbonate diagenesis: Primary and secondary porosity; compaction; pressure solution; cementation; dolomitisation; porosity generation and destruction; fractures. Carbonate sequence stratigraphy Log response in carbonate rocks: Gamma; sonic; neutron; density; FMS. Reservoir assessment: Fracture reservoirs; reservoir modelling; volumetric assessment in correlation and mapping; effects of capillary pressure; interface with engineering. Training Objectives By attending this course, participants will be able to: Understand carbonate depositional systems and controls. Recognise and model controls on reservoir quality and pore systems, including diagenesis and fracturing. Understand and apply carbonate seismic stratigraphy and sequence stratigraphy. Interpret log responses. Target Audience This course is intended for petroleum geologists, explorationists, petrophysicists, geophysicists and engineers involved with exploration of carbonate plays and development of carbonate reservoirs. Trainer Your expert course leader is a Director and Senior Consultant Geologist who has worked on various carbonate consultancy projects, conducted detailed sedimentological, sequence stratigraphic and diagenetic technical studies and delivered training programmes. About this Training Course This 3 full-day training course will introduce participants to the Microsoft Power BI® software solution for extracting, manipulating, visualising and analysing data. This is a very practical, hands-on course that takes participants through a series of exercises which help users understand the Power BI® environment, how to use the key areas of functionality, and how to apply the tools it contains to design and produce analyses of their own data. The first two days focus on learning the key concepts and practising these using clean, simple datasets. The third day provides participants with the opportunity to apply what they've learned to their own data. This makes the course far more relevant and meaningful for them, it allows our facilitator to help them structure their data models, queries and DAX formulas correctly, and it allows our facilitator to help them solve any additional problems that may arise but which were not covered as part of the standard the course. In addition, at the end of the day, each participant walks away with something of real, practical use for their job role. Many previous participants have remarked that they obtained the most value from the course during the third day because otherwise, they wouldn't be able to do what they need to do. This is an introductory course and although it does not assume any prior experience with Power BI®, participants will gain much more from the course if they have at least used Power BI® a little prior to attending. Participants who have taught themselves Power BI® will also benefit from attending as the course will fill-in a number of gaps in their knowledge and will also extend what they know. A general understanding of databases, Excel formulas, and Excel Pivot Tables is useful though not essential. Comprehensive course notes, exercises and completed solutions are included. Microsoft® PowerBI® is a trademark of Microsoft Corporation in the United States and/or other countries. Training Objectives Upon completion of this training course, participants will be able to: Confidently use the Power BI® solution, including Power BI® Desktop, PowerBI®.com and the Power BI® Gateway Extract data from a variety of data sources and manipulate the data extracted so it is ready for analysis Combine data sources together and gain an introductory understanding of the M language Write formulas using the DAX language for generating custom columns, measures and tables Design reports and dashboards using a wide range of both built-in and custom visuals Publish reports and dashboards to PowerBI®.com Share reports and dashboards with others using PowerBI®.com Customize reports and dashboards so that different user groups automatically see their own personalized views Target Audience This training course is intended for: Financial Analysts Accountants Budgeting and planning specialists Treasury Risk Managers Strategic Planners This is an introductory course and although it does not assume any prior experience with Power BI®, participants will gain much more from the course if they have at least used Power BI® a little prior to attending. About this Training Course This is a 2 full-day course that is aimed at providing professionals in the Oil & Gas business with a comprehensive set of core negotiating skills. Negotiations take place in many situations e.g. between peers, manager and subordinate, company and trade unions, company and government. The skills learnt on this course will be useful in all of these situations. However, this course puts a focus on the skills needed in commercial negotiations. A particular emphasis is placed on the relationship and negotiations typically carried out between client and contractor, vendor or the provider of services. A mixture of theory, examples and practical exercises are used so that the participants understand the principles and get an opportunity to try them out. The case studies used are real cases encountered in the Oil & Gas industry. Training Objectives Many technical experts find it difficult to move out of their expertise areas and deal with commercial matters. Negotiating to optimise business value is a step further from their comfort zones. All too often negotiations are then left to finance personnel. They bring many strengths to the table but an understanding of engineering trade-offs is not one of them. By the end of this course, the participants will add to their technical know-how a core competence in negotiation skills. They will thus become formidable negotiating opponents. Target Audience The course is intended for middle-managers and technical and other staff who are responsible for contracts, but with limited previous exposure to negotiations, and who will need these skills in the near future. Course Level Intermediate Trainer Your expert course leader is a consultant, manager and engineer with more than 30 years' experience in a broad range of positions. Over the last 15 years, he has worked with a broad range of multinational businesses across the globe in a wide range of negotiation related roles including: Developing negotiating capability and skillsets Advising on negotiation strategies Establishing Alliances, Joint Ventures and Partnerships, & Remediating Alliances, Joint Ventures and Partnerships He has many years of teaching experience to technical staff - both in a corporate setting, and in an academic setting - for Melbourne University in Melbourne, Australia. Several thousand people from around the world have benefited from his courses. He brings an engineer's practical perspective, and can readily empathize with technical staff making forays into the commercial world of negotiations. He is joint author (with Professor Danny Samson) of Patterns of Excellence ISBN 0273638769, published by Financial Times Management. This has been adopted by a number of blue chip companies as the core text for management development.
