Managing Benefits™ Practitioner Managing Benefits™ provides generally applicable guidance encompassing benefits management principles, practices, and techniques. The purpose of the Practitioner-level qualification is to confirm whether you have achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor the Managing Benefits guidance and, specifically, the principles, practices, techniques, roles, and documentation in a scenario situation. A Practitioner candidate should, with suitable support, be able to plan, implement, sustain, and measure benefits management while adapting to different organizational environments. You should also be able to: Identify activities that should be undertaken during each of the practices of the Benefits Management Cycle, together with the accountabilities and responsibilities of each of the defined roles Evaluate examples of benefits management information (documents) Analyse the solutions adopted in relation to a given scenario This course will prepare you to take and pass the Practitioner exam, which is held on the afternoon of the second day. Using APMG-provided sample exam papers and additional project case studies, you will learn how to apply what you've learned during the Foundation course and how to approach the scenario-based Practitioner exam, which is aimed at testing your ability to apply Managing Benefits in an actual project environment (via simulated case study). This seminar is aimed at counselling and psychotherapy practitioners working with members of the LGBTI+ community who are presenting material and/or concerns about the use of illicit drugs, such as Methamphetamine, Mephedrone and GHB/GBL in combination with sex (Chemsex). The seminar will provide insights into the latest research by presenting case material from a PhD project and focuses on fostering a non-stigmatising/pathologising, shame-reducing approach to clinical practice with this client group. Participants will gain an understanding of the phenomenon by examining the practice from within different therapeutic approaches. ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Peter Hellsten is a psychodynamic (eclectic) psychotherapist in private practice at A Quiet Room and has worked extensively with members of the LGBT+ community. He is a PhD candidate and qualitative researcher at The University of Edinburgh, where he is working on a project concerning gay men’s sexual behaviour and Chemsex.

Course Content Comprehensive Review of Common MSK Conditions: An in-depth overview of prevalent musculoskeletal conditions encountered in clinical practice Mastering Upper Limb Special Tests: Practical, hands-on instruction and practice in performing and interpreting key special tests for the shoulder (e.g., Empty Can, Hawkins-Kennedy, Neer’s), elbow (e.g., Jobe’s), wrist and hand (e.g., Phalen’s, Tinel’s, Finkelstein’s), and cervical spine (e.g., Spurling’s) etc. Emphasis will be placed on proper technique, sensitivity, specificity, and clinical relevance. Mastering Lower Limb and Lumbar Spine Special Tests:Practical, hands-on instruction and practice in performing and interpreting key special tests for the lumbar spine (e.g., Straight Leg Raise, Slump Test, Quadrant Test), sacroiliac joint (e.g., FABER), hip (e.g., Trendelenburg, Thomas), knee (e.g., McMurray’s, LCL), ankle and foot (e.g., Anterior Drawer, Windlass) etc. Emphasis will be placed on proper technique, sensitivity, specificity, and clinical relevance. Clinical Reasoning and Interpretation: Developing critical thinking skills to integrate special test findings with patient history and other assessment components to arrive at accurate diagnoses and inform treatment plans. Case studies and real-world scenarios will be utilised. Practical Application and Refinement: Ample opportunity for hands-on practice in pairs, receiving feedback on technique and interpretation to build confidence and proficiency in performing special tests.
