You will come away with knowledge of philanthropy, funding and development in theatre, associated roles and career paths as well as a range of skills to apply to your own creative journeys, projects and funding endeavours. On the outskirts of Gaza City a small community of farmers, the Samouni extended family, is about to celebrate a wedding. It's going to be the first celebration since the latest war. Amal, Fuad, their brothers and cousins have lost their parents, their houses and their olive trees. The neighborhood where they live is being rebuilt. As they replant trees and plow fields, they face their most difficult task: piecing together their own memory. Through these young survivors' recollections, Samouni Road conveys a deep, multifaceted portrait of a family before, during and after the tragic event that changed its life forever.

Date: Monday 27th November Location: Studio A Time: 4pm Writer turned director Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, First Reformed) created a unique, avant-garde biopic about notorious Japanese author Yukio Mishima, who embraced Japan's traditions and fought against the gradual westernisation that became common following the end of World War Two. Using adaptations of sections of his novels, as well as traditional recounting of real-life events, this film sticks out as one of Schrader's best, and continues to inspire awe and heated discussion years later.

Date: Monday 6th November Time: 4pm Location: Studio A Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, one of the most acclaimed films of the 2000s, is about memory, love and the pain of heartbreak, whilst wrapped up in a brilliant, high-concept conceit: if you could erase someone from your memory, would you do it? This is the question faced by Joel and Clementine, following their relationship and breakup, as they navigate their past together and whether they want to hold onto their memories of each other, from once happy times that have now turned painful. Time: 4pm Date: Thursday 9th November Location: Studio A Writer and director Andrew Legge joins us via Zoom for this exclusive screening event, where we'll be showing his recently released film 'LOLA' in Studio A, followed by a discussion and Q+A. Set during World War 2, the film charts the amazing invention by two sisters of a computer that's able to show glimpses of the future. By altering events in the present, the world changes around the two women, as time and space reach near breaking point. One of the best underground films to come out this year, be sure to come and see it, and then get a chance to speak to the man who made it afterwards!

DATE: Thursday 8th June TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A MAX ALBRECHT is the creative director and founder of Critical Mask Pictures, a production company that focuses on narrative filmmaking. Max will be joining us on Thursday afternoon to discuss how best to market yourself and find work as a freelancer in the film and television industries. With years of experience under his belt, this will be a great Life Skills Session to attend to learn about life after CFS. Max will also discuss his experiences founding a production company and operating as a sole trader, so that attendees can learn of all the many ways to make a living independently in the business. A Q+A Session will take place for anything specific people wanted to ask. Be sure to book your free ticket in advance so that you don't miss out!

Date: Thursday 15th June Time: 4pm Location: Studio A - Landor Road Event Details: Tim Haines is a television producer and director, having worked on several highly-respected documentary and drama productions over a storied career. Tim will speak about the following topics as well as others at the event: Approaches to Documentary How a Documentary Gets Made The Purpose of a Documentary Modern Combinations of CGI & Live Action Throughout students will have the chance to ask questions about the topics being discussed, before wrapping up with a wider Q+A session at the end. A multiple Emmy and BAFTA winner, Tim has worked on many well known series, including: - Walking with Dinosaurs - Director & Producer - Primeval - Producer - The Loch - Producer - Surviving Earth (currently in production) - Producer This is a free event that all students are welcome to attend. DATE: Tuesday 28th May TIME: 4pm LOCATION: Studio A Jordan Gifford is an up and coming writer, director and producer who will be coming in to give advice on looking for Freelance Film work. He will discuss his own burgeoning career, how he went from a runner to working in film locations, to being given the opportunity to produce his first feature film, all whilst also finding his own voice as a writer/director of dramatic short films. You will get the chance to ask him questions directly as well, and hear advice from someone who not too long ago was in your shoes exactly. Be sure to book in advance if you want to come along.
