On this fun, workshop with local artist Lucy Wayman, you will learn how to make a macram&eacute; plant hanger which can also double as fabulous hanging storage with the addition of a fruit bowl or jewellery pot!
With hands-on help from Lucy, you will learn the basic principles and techniques of macram&eacute;, and will build your confidence making small keyring designs. Using 100% cotton rope and a selection of coloured twines, you will then create your hand-crafted hanger.&nbsp;

Discover the magic of mosaic making&nbsp;with Jacky Cox of Mossy MosaicMosaicing fits in perfectly with our vision of a world where recycling, repurposing and upcycling is the norm. Jacky works with a variety of materials including glass, recycled crockery and natural materials like slate and sea glass, and finds the whole creative process from sourcing to creating absorbing, relaxing and mesmerising.&nbsp;On this 3 hour session, Jacky will help you create two mosaic items using methods you can do at home. You will begin by designing creating a grouted drinks coaster, and while this is drying, you will design a beautiful hanging heart using vitreous (&#39;swimming pool&#39;) tiles. In the first hour, you will learn the basics of the traditional calligraphy letter-making. Then you will practice on acetate to get an idea of what it will look and feel like on a bauble, so you&#39;ll have plenty of time to experiment and play with ideas.&nbsp;

Festive calligraphy | private class for up to 10 people

Our Art &amp; Wine Evenings offer&nbsp;a fun,&nbsp;relaxed and creative night out in Edinburgh&#39;s fabulous&nbsp;city centre, and are perfect for those who want to reengage with their creative side, or just enjoy a bit of escapism.
With hands-on help from local painter <a href="https://www.thearienascollective.com/artists" rel="noopener" target="_blank" fr-original-style="" style="user-select: auto; font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box; cursor: pointer; text-decoration: inherit;">Suzanne Kemplay</a>, you will learn how to create your very own still life, portrait or landscape painting using acrylic paints, while enjoying a glass of wine served with cheese and crackers plus our usual selection of locally-blended Shibui teas, and coffee options.
You don&#39;t have to be able to draw, so it&#39;s perfect for beginners&nbsp;as well as those who are new to using acrylic paints. And we&nbsp;think you&#39;ll be amazed at what you can achieve in one evening!
Suzanne offers a range of themes throughout the year, and you will be given a choice of 2 options to paint on the night. She&#39;ll also provide a brief background to the artist&#39;s work, and support throughout the evening to help you make the most of your time.

In this 3-hour private class, Lou Davis will take you through how to make a gelatin (vege-gel) printing plate which can be used to print beautiful and colourful works of art.&nbsp;We&rsquo;ll cover a number of techniques including using stencils and masks, adding texture with botanicals and found objects and using household items for mark making and using home-made foam stamps. Textures could be chosen to match the reason for the celebration.

On this private silver clay jewellery taster class, you can create a pendant, charms and/or a pair of earrings from hallmark-quality silver with metal clay specialist, Anna Campbell of Jewellery School Scotland. &nbsp; You will learn how to make jewellery out of a material called silver clay, which is made up of recycled silver particles, an organic binder and water. Silver clay requires with very little equipment so it&#39;s perfect for those wanting to learn a new skill they can easily do at home. &nbsp; You will be taken through all the steps to create your own piece ready for firing. Learn how to make a functional and fabulous hand-bound book with local Bookbinder Cass Barron.
In this 3 hour workshop, Cass will take you through the process of folding, cutting and stitching your own leather or pleather book using a range of upcycled and vintage materials to give your book its own unique character.
All materials will be provided but there is also the option to incorporate your own decorative papers, including maps and personal mementos should you want to theme your book to suit your occasion. 
The books you will produce make for great notebooks, journals, sketchbooks and memory books, as well as lovely gifts for friends and family.
Following the workshop you will receive a reminder of the steps covered and a comprehensive materials list should you want to make more books at home (it's a most addictive craft).

The Arienas Collective private classes are run from our supportive and welcoming home-based environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh’s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in being creative.
Access to all the equipment you will need is included in the price. 
Private classes can be themed to suit the occasion, such as a special birthday, hen do, or family celebration. Just let us know when booking and we can discuss the options.
On full day classes you are welcome to bring your own lunch. Alternatively, there are a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, supermarkets and restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk. We can also provide a buffet style lunch if you prefer, just let us know your dietary requirements and budget, and we'll source some options.
PLEASE NOTE: Our workshop space is on the first-floor of a Georgian mews building and unfortunately we do not have lift access. The workshop space is in our home which is not nut free. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies before booking.

This official BRCGS two-day course will enable you to undertake internal audits and prepare companies for third party audits. It is delivered through a series of workshop-led discussions, presentations and an interactive case study. During the live case study, you will be given feedback and support to enable you to carry out an audit at your own workplace.You will be assessed throughout the course (50%) and you will also need to undertake a workplace audit and submit an audit report for assessment (50%).
