The Portable Appliance Testing course or PAT testing course as it is more commonly known is one of our most popular courses as it does not require you to have any formal previous qualifications and once completed, will enable you to offer your services. In the commercial setting, the law places a responsibility on all employers to ensure that the electrical equipment to be used by their staff and the public, should be fit for purpose and safe for use. Hence, all portable appliances have to be regularly checked and maintained by a competent person.

If your streetworks card is about to or has already expired, you will need to take a NRSWA reassessment course. You are not able to work on a streetworks site with expired certificates. You can take reassessments at anytime before your certificates expire and the remaining time left before expiry is now added to your new card. For example, if you take your reassessment with 6 months still remaining, it will be added to your new card when you receive it, resulting in 5 years and 6 months on your card expiry. If you completed your NRSWA Operative or Supervisor course with us, we will advise you that you will need to complete the reassessment course within 3 months of the expiry date. Required to undertake asbestos fibre counting as part of their work Considering a career in asbestos analysis Responsible for managing asbestos analysts Prior Knowledge and Understanding Candidates for this course are expected to be aware of HSG 248 Asbestos: The Analysts' Guide (July 2021), and in particular Appendix 1, Fibres in air: sampling and evaluation of by phase contrast microscopy. Candidates will preferably have prior experience of analysing fibre count samples and may already be participating in a quality control scheme. In addition, candidates are expected to have had training to cover the core competencies outlined within the foundation material detailed within Table A9.1 of HSG248 Asbestos: The Analysts' Guide (July 2021). This may be achieved by In -house learning or through the P400 foundation module.

Those who require a detailed understanding of asbestos surveying principles (e.g. asbestos report writers, architects, building surveyors etc.) Prior Knowledge and Understanding Candidates for this course are expected to be aware of the contents of HSG 264 Asbestos, the survey guide and have a minimum of six months prior experience of assisting on asbestos surveys.
