We are a new non-profit app that launched in July 2020 with a mission to inform, involve and inspire people to help tackle some of the world's most pressing environmental and social problems. Our story now-u was founded in April of 2020, inspired by the acts of kindness and solidarity that we saw in our communities during the Covid-19 lockdown. We noticed that many people wanted to do something to help others during these difficult times but didn't know what they could do, while at the same time, charities were doing amazing work and in desperate need of support. We decided to create a platform to empower anyone to help tackle the causes they care about and support the charities working on the front lines of global issues. The global lockdown has offered us an opportunity to take stock of what's really important to us, and a chance to move forward together instead of falling ‘back to normal’. We believe that each of us has the power to create lasting and sustainable change together. now u!

Our highly active and dedicated PTA offer a range of events throughout the year, for students and parents. Their hard work and effort continues to support our students by providing facilities such as a school minibus or covered seating areas. They are always looking for new members to support their on-going projects. We are entering a new and exciting time, which will see the school moving from strength to strength, building upon our current position as one of the highest attaining non-selective schools in Kent; with 61% of our students leaving with 5 A*-C including English and Maths. Together, as a school, we will be building an outstanding provision for the future, where students will take a highly active role within the wider school development and their own learning journey. Our vision is to promote a better understanding of mental health for everyone by building capability in organisations and individuals to look after our own and others’ wellbeing. Our mission By 2024 (in our first 5 years), we aim to train 1000 people as Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA), 1000 line managers as Mental Health Champions and 1000 executive and senior managers in Mental Health Awareness. We believe reducing stigma and normalising attitudes towards mental and emotional ill health is essential to create positive environments where anyone affected can enjoy and achieve in all areas of life. Who we are Lotus Learning Consultants are part of a global movement working to normalise society’s attitudes towards mental health and to empower people, through delivery of nationally accredited training, to care for themselves and others. The MHFA Programme began in Australia in 2000; the organisation now known as Mental Health First Aid International has approved more than 25 countries including Mental Health First Aid England to accredit individuals to deliver Mental Health First Aid training programmes. Our Instructors are professionals, who have been through the MHFA England accredited training, with a wide range of professional experience. They balance the serious nature of the subject with engaging delivery styles so that participants leave feeling energised and confident to make positive change. We also offer consultancy to organisations reviewing and implementing wellbeing strategies, as well as leadership and management training around people and change.

My name is Anna Robinson and I am the Executive Headteacher and Chief Executive Officer of MARK Education Trust. Our trust was established in 2012, and for the last 10 years has been a trust of one school, Beacon Academy in Crowborough. From September 2022, we are delighted to have welcomed Uplands Academy into our trust as our second school. I was the Headteacher of Beacon Academy from September 2015 – August 2022 prior to becoming the Executive Headteacher from September 2022, overseeing both of our schools. To support Uplands during their first year as an Academy and member of our trust, for this academic year, I will also be the named Headteacher of Uplands Academy. In addition, my colleague, David Callard, with an excellent and sustained track record of senior leadership at Beacon Academy, will also be joining me as our Senior Deputy Headteacher. In addition to bringing additional leadership capacity and experience of school improvement, we are looking forward to working with the well-known and established Uplands senior team, its staff and most importantly our inspiring and incredibly capable students.
