This course discusses the care of indwelling male, female, and supra-pubic catheters in order to minimise the risks associated with indwelling catheters

Learners will gain the knowledge, skills and competences needed to deal with a wide range of pre-hospital care emergencies, such as: managing a patient’s airways, catastrophic bleeding, management of fractures, medical emergencies and more. Endorsed by The Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care – The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and fulfilling the competencies set out in the PHEM skills framework at descriptor level D, this fantastic qualification is perfect for a range of roles in emergency care, such as: Ambulance Care Assistant (PTS), Community First Responder or Event First Responder and more. Learners must be at least 17 years old on the first day of training. There are no other formal entry requirements but to benefit from the learning we advise that Learners have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy or equivalent and a basic understanding of first aid. This qualification is for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide prehospital care to patients requiring emergency care/treatment. Overview Many hospitals and clinics will use a smile, “customer service” and good intentions to hide the fact they have poor or no training in service and professional staff about the different care that medical tourists or expat local patients need. At the heart of appropriate care for medical travellers is a need for institutional awareness of the unique differences between local patients and medical tourists. Having a better understanding of what medical tourists, their care managers and home-based doctors expect from the receiving hospital or clinic at the medical destination will lead to a better quality of patient care for medical travellers.

The Learner needs to retake the qualification before the certificate expiry date to remain qualified. This half-day course provides an introduction to promote mental health awareness in the workplace for all employees. Group activities are designed to encourage and empower individuals to prioritise their mental wellbeing and recognise signs of mental ill health in both themselves and others. The session emphasises the importance of mental wellbeing conversations, self-care and how to access further support.
