Next step of dog training for dogs 10 months and older. This 6 week course where the classes encompasses a comprehensive range of essential skills and behaviours. You will attend 6 x 30-minute training classes Mancetter Memorial Hall, Old Farm Road, Mancetter, Atherstone, Warwickshire, CV9 1QN.

Designed for quiet, shy, self-conscious and introverted people. In this introductory evening, you will be discovering the keys to authentic confidence based on author and self-confidence specialist, Claire Schrader's experiences of being a shy introvert, and what really worked in getting her out of her shell so she could achieve things in her personal and professional life she never would have thought possible. You will meet Claire in person and experience a series of confidence exercises that you will be able to put into practice in your everyday life. Claire creates an informal, relaxed, non-judgmental atmosphere that will quickly put you at your ease, and free you of the internal pressures that normally inhibit you from expressing yourself. It's a very safe place for you to gently stretch out of your comfort zone with people who feel in the same boat as you.

The RYA Powerboat Instructor Skills Assessment is a mandatory requirement ahead of all Powerboat Instructor courses. Course Duration 1/2 day for each group of 3 attendees. If we have 6 attending then one group will go afloat in the morning and another in the afternoon with an overlap at lunchtime to address the theory element of the assessment. Instructor – student ratio 3 students to 1 Powerboat Trainer per boat. Minimum Age Those over the age of 16 can attend the assessment. Course price For those attending the RYA Powerboat Instructor course with us the cost of the assessment is £150. Course dates You can attend a pre-assessment at any time up to 6 months before your course. Assessments are always scheduled the day before a instructors course for those that can’t get to the centre ahead of the course. We are usually happy to schedule dates for assessments to suit your diary. Candidates for the pre-assessment will be expected to demonstrate competence in Hold off a mark Pick up and secure to a buoy Moor alongside up/downtide Turn using warps Turn in a confined space Recover a man overboard (dummy) Stop and start the engine Planing speed runs including figure 8 and ‘U’ turns Theory including charts, tides, buoyage, colregs and pilotage RYA Instructor Training At Torbay Sea School we have trained many RYA Instructors who have gone on to instruct with us, other RYA training centres or as freelance instructors. During the course of your general RYA training you will have gained all the skills necessary to sail, motor or power boat with confidence to a high standard. The following courses consolidate all those skills and give you the tools required to instruct others to gain their RYA qualifications. You will be able to utilise our Instructors experience and our boats/equipment to feel at ease with instructing others.

Prepare to amaze yourself, and your friends, with the beautiful canoe you will build here.. and Yes! You do take your canoe home with you when you leave. First Day The first stage in the process is to cut out the marine ply panels, and sew these together using cable ties as seen here. This is a fun stage, and you quickly see your canoe coming together. Children often opt to be involved at this stage. Not all children decide to be with us for the slower paced sections of the build. Second Day The second day is mainly taken up with cutting, planing, sanding and fitting the seats ( the Thwarts). At the end of the second day we aim to apply the first coat of resin, to the inside of your canoe, along with glassfibre tape ro reinforce the seams.  Third Day  Most of the third day is taken up with preparing the outside of your canoe for the resin and tape. This involves a lot of patient planing and sanding, The whole boat gets two coats of resin inside and out, and all the seams are reinforced with glassfibre tape on the outside too. The RYA Coastal Skipper course is for sailors who want to go a little further afield. We will teach you advanced skippering techniques, including preparation for sea, pilotage, yacht handling under power and sail, and delegating duties to the crew. The course also includes emergency situations such as recovering a man overboard under power and sail. There will be plenty of practice in the harbour, learning to manoeuvre the boat in smaller places and mooring in a variety of conditions. We will practice blind navigation, so that if you are in heavy weather or fog you will make it to the nearest harbour safely. It is recommended that the coastal skipper theory course is completed prior to the practical course - however, there is the option to self-study. You also have to have logged 300 NM over 15 days at sea (including two as a skipper) and eight night sail hours. The course runs over five days and nights. You will be living on one of our fully coded yachts with up to four other crew members and your Yachtmaster Instructor. Your food is included in the cost, as is overnight stays in harbours. To add to the experience of gaining your RYA Coastal Skipper, you will get the benefit of continuing your sailing experience on the west coast of Scotland.

A 2 day course for Powerboat Instructors (aged 17+) looking to advance their instructions level to include the Advanced and Intermediate Powerboat courses. The course builds on the command, teaching and communication skills all introduced at Powerboat Instructor level which will have been solidified by experience running courses. The course covers how to coach and train all aspects of the Advanced Powerboat course including safe command of a vessel at day and night, meteorology, Collision Regulations, Emergency situations and search patterns, and use of engines. The course is a mix of theory and practical.   Course Pre-Requisites To do this course you will need the following certificates: First Aid certificate, Powerboat Instructor (with logged teaching hours), Advanced Powerboat course completion certificate, one of the following Certifiates of Competnce with a valid commercial endorsement; Advanced Powerboat Certificate of Completence, RYA Yachtmaster™ Coastal (Power) Certificate of Competence, or RYA Yachtmaster™ Offshore (Power) Certifcate of Competence (Instructors who do not hold a valid commercial endorsement will only be able to teach Intermediate Powerboat). The Newark Crusader offers affordable pre-booked cruises on the River Trent from Newark Marina for care homes, elderly, special needs, community, and educational groups with excellent disabled access, including those in wheelchairs. The pleasure of cruising on the River Trent is therapeutic, helping people relax and enjoy being in contact with wildlife and the outdoors. The Newark Crusader is a not-for-profit charity run entirely by volunteers. There is a large open foredeck, a heated saloon, a disabled toilet and a small galley/kitchen. The boat can carry up to 12 passengers and there are usually two trips a day lasting roughly 2 hours. The cost of the service starts as low as £6 per person, but we do ask for a minimum contribution of £60 per trip towards our costs.
