Hi there, I am a yoga teacher with a PhD in Metaphysical Science, a certified holistic life coach and spiritual counsellor, an organiser of wellness retreats, a teacher on the global meditation app, Insight Timer and creator of Lovable Yoga Clothing As well as my organic clothing line, I’m proud to be an Independent Consultant for the amazing certified B corporation, Arbonne. Their Mind.Body.Skin products provide clean vegan, cruelty free skincare, beauty and nutrition that has made my life so much easier and my skin clearer! Conscious living is ingrained into me now and allows me to support companies that are not harming the planet and its inhabitants. There is no Planet B! Being diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome then post traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety fifteen years ago left me unable to function. I led myself down the holistic route to get my health and, ultimately, my life back, and along the way stepped into my role as a teacher and wellness guide centred around yin yoga. I discovered I have a skill in teaching and happiness in sharing my practice with others. This powerful yet very human journey has so far involved nearly six hundred hours of Yoga Alliance teacher training, including an advanced yin yoga teacher training course and yoga for trauma recovery. My intensive studies have included hatha, ashtanga, vinyasa, yin, yin yang and aerial yoga. Of these, yin yoga was the completing piece of the jigsaw for me. Yin is where my healing finds its natural flow. While I was being treated for depression many years ago, I developed a fascination with how the human brain works and the connection between the mind and body. What my consultant shared with me was incredible, and I needed to know more. This drive to understand more led me into gaining my PhD in Metaphysical Science. The fact that I had gone from being unable to function, to completing a PhD, was beyond any belief I had about myself. I never imagined I would be able to use my brain, and heal my body and mind, to the extent that I have. The intensity and depth of my yoga training and academic studying and the way in which they come together in my sessions has created my unique style of teaching yin yoga. Postures, nurture and calm are combined with the brain science behind the practice and meticulous preparation, bringing wisdom and learning from many different sources into each session. Dr. Amanda Bowen Yoga Instructor Dr. Amanda Bowen Yoga Teacher Counselling on stress management and how to mitigate against the devastating long-term effects it can have is woven into my teaching. I bring healing stillness into people’s lives in order for them to better manage their challenges and find – and enjoy – the balance that is so often missing. My inspirational and educational yoga classes, workshops and worldwide transformational retreats are for everyone.

In this digital age there is more competition for our attention than ever before. This has a knock on impact on our lives as where we place our attention determines what we experience and how we feel... I, Alex La Via, was inspired to set up Live More Offline after noticing the impact of digital technology in my work and home life. Digital wellness is about using technology in a way that brings us closer to the things and people we value rather than being distracted away from our goals. Examples of unhelpful digital habits can be the extra episode of Netflix which leaves us feeling tired the next day, digital notifications that get in the way of focused work or scrolling time away yet feeling we don't have the time for the things we love. I am passionate about helping people to create a relationship with technology that is on their terms and creates the life they want! Alex La Via The Live More Offline approach is rooted in the evidence base of mindfulness and neuroscience. Drawing on research emerging on the impact of digital technology on focus, memory, creativity, empathy, wellbeing and sleep, to name just a few areas. I have experienced the 'always on' culture first-hand, within my corporate career, and understand the challenges of managing the blurred line between work and home life. In addition, I noticed my greatest challenge with technology on relocating to Yorkshire in early 2018 and being between jobs. At this time, I started spending more time on social media and Netflix. After noticing the impact on my life, I took the bold decision to disconnect from digital technology by flying to Spain and walking 500 miles on the Camino de Santiago. Spending six weeks walking in nature and disconnecting from digital technology, I felt energised, healthy and inspired. This led me to question how to get the right balance back at home. From this moment, I have undertaken academic research and furthered my training into the impact that digital technology is having on wellbeing and creating the lives we want. I now bring this combination of personal experience and knowledge to empower others to find a balance with digital technology which supports their goals and the life they want to live. It would be a pleasure to help you in creating meaningful change to meet your needs and goals. Experience: Over ten years' experience working within Big Four accountancy and FTSE 100 / FTSE 250 in-house environments Academic research with a Masters Degree in Mindfulness-Based Approaches at Aberdeen University, with a research focus on the impact that digital technology is having on wellbeing and the potential for mindfulness in digital habit change Qualified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Teacher, listed by the UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organisations as a mindfulness teacher who adheres to the UK Good Practice Guidelines Qualified digital wellness coach Studied with Judson Brewer's 'Mindfulness-Based Behaviour Change Facilitator' Training Course Qualified Mental Heath First Aider

Being different wasn’t easy for me. I grew up in a school and feared going in every day. I would get called names and my glasses would be thrown from person to person while I tried to catch them!! I was tall, I was skinny, and I didn’t have the same colour skin like them. I was in a predominantly white school, with only a handful of Asians and no Black people at all. I stuck out like a sore thumb!! I hated it!! I did whatever I could to try and fit in and blend into the crowd. There were many times where I cried myself to sleep. The wanting of belonging was heavy in my heart. As you can imagine this affected me growing up. Growing up I barely had a voice, or an opinion on anything. My self esteem was so low, I hated the way I looked, and most of all I hated being at the centre of attention. The years passed and I got married at the age of 22. I thought I had it all, a home, a husband and my beautiful little boy. I could put the past behind me. This all came crashing down when the relationship with my husband came to an end. I moved back in with my parents and went through 4 years of battling the court system over our young boy. I was made out to be an unfit mother who couldn’t be capable of looking after our son. I became really down, I mean really down!!….. I suffered from panic attacks and depression, and really hated myself, and my life. I remember one day driving my car and all of a sudden I had to pull over!! My eyes had become hazy and I couldn’t see properly, my breathing became shallow and my chest was hurting! I could feel the panic rising as I dialed my dad’s number to come and get me from the side of the road. I felt broken, completely shattered both mentally and physically. I thought there was something seriously wrong with me and that I needed to be fixed! The day came, I remember it so clearly. I was in the kitchen after putting my son to bed. I was just about to take my depression medication and something inside of me just flipped, like a light switch. I could hear a voice in my head very clearly. This is not my life, this is not how I am supposed to live. I took action. I threw the pills in the bin, ( I don’t recommend this unless you speak with your GP) and said enough is enough, no one can change things for me, I have to do this myself! At that point I became determined to change my life around and I would do anything I needed to do to get myself better. That day I googled stress and panic attacks, and days that followed I read more and more. I could see I wasn’t the only one suffering. I started to see a glimmer of hope. I came across a Kundalini yoga DVD called Stress and Detox, the teacher had the same name as me, Maya, so I saw it as a sign that I needed to give this a go. I had tried yoga before but this was something so different on many levels. It was weird, she did some funny breathing and chanted words I didn’t understand but I kept an open mind and continued. I felt different, I felt better than I had done in ages. After practicing consistently for a few weeks I remember telling my friend I felt like I was drunk without the alcohol. I was getting high on life, and I was beginning to see a way out. This was my journey of how I found Kundalini Yoga. Over the years, I discovered I had a lot of health issues due to stress, I had no idea that stress could do this to my body. I thought stress was just all in the head. How wrong was I! My digestive system was way off track, I had become intolerant to so many foods. I suffered from severe lower back pain for years, where I had to take pain killers most nights. I also suffered with UTI’s pretty much every other week, and horrific migraine attacks where I would be bed bound at least 8 – 10 days a month, they were so painful and I was unable to function at all. As well as Kundalini yoga ( the yoga of awareness) I worked with Ayurvedic practices (an ancient health care tradition from India dating back over 5,000 years.) It’s where you work with your mind/ body type to bring yourself back into balance. I also practiced Mindfulness, and Art therapy. I found peace by being creative, it took my mind off the worry, it brought me joy to see the things I created, and I still love it now. I learnt to slow down my breathing and my overactive mind, and my body started to follow, relax and heal itself. All these practices and experiences of life have made me who I am today! I wouldn’t change it for anything now. I have learnt so much from these experiences and now I can help other people in similar situations. I know going through divorce was hard and at the time I couldn’t see an end. However, it gave me a new lease of life, a new sense of freedom. To live life on my terms and I love it! I remarried and have an amazing relationship with my husband, whom I truly love and trust. I can completely be myself, I do not have to pretend to be someone who I am not. My son is living between both houses. He is now 15 and l love spending time with him and love his big squeezy hugs when I can get them out of him. And the ex husband is still in the picture and is a great dad to our son. From a life that I hated, to a life that I love! I know once I took back control of my life and made my choices consciously, everything changed for me. This allowed me to set my boundaries and move forward step by step. It wasn’t easy but I did it. This process allowed me to create my life rather than to let life happen to me. If I can deal with a marriage ending, and child custody battle through the courts, that resulted in me being at my lowest point, ever! The stress, the anxiety, the health issues and the feeling of being helpless, incapable and unhappy, then you can too. This is why I do what I do. I love to help people feel better, feel better in their mind, their physical body, help them to connect and learn to love themself. And uplift their soul. It gives me great pleasure to see them smile and actually know it’s for real, and it’s coming from deep within the heart. This is why I call myself the Conscious Change Creator. I am here to help you create change consciously.

Raag Coaching

We are passionate about wellbeing and holistic learning. Our coaching helps people excel academically and to cultivate a growth MINDSET and growth HEARTSET. We believe having this balance of the head (rational intelligence) and heart (emotional intelligence), together with the gut (physical intelligence) as the keystone, is the secret to unlocking your genius and resiliency. We have supported our children with a holistic approach to education, which we call compassionate based learning. This experiential learning has seen our children develop from building blocks to scholarship and bursaries at an independent school and securing offers to read at Oxbridge. Along this journey we have learnt a lot that we thought would help other parents and their children. We have often been asked for help and advice and we’d share the best of what we learnt, and we would often be told we should coach for a living. So, that’s what we did: we left our pharmacy and IT careers, and after qualifying from gold star training providers, undertaking hours of self-study to compliment the face to face training, and gaining the requisite hours for accreditation by coaching pro-bono we have developed our own unique coaching system to help children bring out the genius within themselves. Accelerated learning, exam success, grammar/independent school applications, university/Oxbridge applications and a personal brand portfolio are areas we specialise in, as well as the holistic element of learning: resilience and the emotions of beliefs and behaviours.
