Barista Skills teaches the essential practical skills needed behind the espresso bar, such as how to set your grinder, make espresso, foam and texture milk for cappuccinos, and create latte art, as well as an exploration of health and safety issues, customer service protocols, and basic business practices. The Barista Skills Intermediate course builds on the concepts and skills introduced in the Foundation course. It is ideal for someone who has barista skills experience and wants to explore how to improve coffee quality and prepare for more complex job functions found in the barista profession. Through this interactive course, learners will gain a deeper understanding of the coffee itself, specifically, the impact of a coffee’s variety, origins and processing methods on flavour; the parameters of coffee quantity, grind texture, water quality, and shot time and their interaction when dialling in a brew recipe; drink construction and taste differences; workflow management and efficiency, sensory aspects of the espresso extraction; milk handling and techniques as well as latte art. This VILT course is suited to technical personnel or technical management. He has recognized expertise in thermodynamics and physical and transport properties of fluids. He has consulted for several EPC and operating companies through his company Chem-Pet Process Tech., and currently holds the role of Director of Technology in an integrated engineering and solutions provider to the energy industry. He is currently involved with a small power-based carbon capture project as well as helping clients determine the best options for utilities decisions. He has been involved with CO2 dehydration and CO2 flood gas treating as well as acid gas injection projects for several years. Highlighted Achievements: Developed ORC geothermal model to determine the available power from wells in Alberta Acting on the Technical Advisory Board for E3 Metals, extracting lithium from formation water. Acted as a Subject Matter Expert for assessing the performance of the Plains Midstream Canada, Empress 1 Deep Cut Straddle Plant in a potential litigation. Also troubleshooted the oil battery shipping pump, plate exchanger and FWKO and treater. Evaluated gas processing and sulphur recovery options for new feeds to the Zhaikmunai Zelenovsky Gas Plant, Kazakhstan (with PM Lucas, Serbia). Completed capacity analysis for hydrocarbon dew point versus liquid recovery of three trains at Birchcliff Pouce Coupe facility including amine unit, refrigerated gas plant and acid gas injection. Completed process design for CO2 flue gas dehydration for Husky Energy Inc (with Status Engineering) Provided simulations of EnCana Foster Creek and Christina Lake and Husky McMullen SAGD facilities (with Vista Projects). Performed process engineering for Cenovus Pelican Lake SAGD pilot (with GRB Engineering) Bear Lake heavy oil polymer injection pilot (with GRB Engineering). Overview The eight 1/2 day Support Manager course is uniquely created to provide training on the fundamentals of management relative to the support environment, and to enhance the inherent skills and knowledge of the support manager. This course focuses specifically on the most common management elements that occur in the technical support centre including, managing customer satisfaction, operations and team performance management and facilitating a team while managing a dynamic service product. This course offers support managers the opportunity to develop and refine their technology support leadership skills enabling them to effectively manage the challenges of the most complex support centres. Who Should Attend The Support Manager course is for managers who have at least six months management experience and have received some basic management training. Requirements The course begins with a review and quiz on a set of pre-class reading materials. These materials are sent to each participant two weeks prior to the class start date. Participants are strongly encouraged to register at least two weeks in advance to allow time to complete these pre-class assignments. Each participant is required to bring the pre-class reading materials as well as a notebook computer with a USB port and with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint installed.
