She’s a fan of high-concept, speculative, historical and contemporary romance, heists, dystopias, and social thrillers with a twist.  In middle grade, Alice is drawn to sweeping adventures, big-concept ideas, and stories with a speculative or magical feel. She appreciates middle grade novels that do not talk down to the reader but remain fast-paced and fun. Some of her favourite authors include Kiran Millwood Hargrave, Michelle Harrison, Elle McNicoll, Jordan Lees and Jack Meggitt-Phillips. On the adult side, Alice is looking for fantasy that combines strong commercial appeal with a unique concept. She enjoys well-plotted, immersive fantasy with atmospheric settings and imaginative magic systems. She is currently on the lookout for something exceptional in the dark academia space. When reading romance, she is drawn to lively secondary characters, unusual set-ups, engaging dialogue and irresistible chemistry between the leads. She would love to find the next Emily Henry or Ali Hazelwood, romance with emotional depth and a compelling voice. Humour is a plus and she enjoys a good trope, if explored creatively.
