Three Days - Stained Glass Painting Course

I run different lengths of classes in glass fusing and enamelling and this whole day course includes these 2 and beginner stained glass too! This is a private course just for you or your group in Worcester and you can choose the date. In this whole day course (approx 10am-3.30pm) we will explore 3 different glass making techniques. Depending on the complexity of your pieces, you can usually make around 2-3 fused glass items of your choice including jewellery, coasters, hanging panels, tree decorations; 1 small stained glass panel (including copper foiling and soldering) and 3 pieces of enamelled copper jewellery (sifted powdered glass onto copper shapes and fired yourself in the kiln). There are different price options for 1 person, 2 people or 3 people booking and I am flexible with dates available - please ask. &nbsp;&nbsp;The class is suitable for people who want to learn the basic techniques of new crafts which might lead to a new hobby. Or you can just come to try something new and enjoy the creative experience. It is a great gift idea for someone who enjoys trying new things! &nbsp;Glass comes in many forms and you don&#39;t need any artistic ability! I provide plenty of ideas for inspiration. 
(Age 14+ (U16 accompanied by paying adult)) Max 3 people in a class for safety reasons - a careful steady hand required!&nbsp;&bull; A whole day course will include the glass materials and metal inclusions, jewellery fixings and the firing of your pieces which will be ready to collect in 1-2 weeks. (Postage can be arranged at cost if preferred.)&nbsp;&bull; The studio is equipped with a large range of coloured glass in different sizes and formats, various glitters and metal inclusions, kiln fibre, appropriate tools and safety equipment and electric kilns. 
A craft lesson makes a great unusual gift for a fun creative activity to do together. &nbsp;You can get in contact to arrange a date that would suit. I am very flexible on dates. I also run shorter classes from 1.5 hours long in glass fusing and enamelling. I am flexible and open to bespoke timing to suit. I also combine courses with my husband who is a potter and runs courses too.

Our courses are social and interactive whether delivered online or in-person. Our aim is to introduce and build crafting skills and the basic skills needed for success in the workplace and at home, including self-confidence, problem solving, communicating in a group, basic maths and English. We teach over 45 different paper craft and mixed media techniques. Each course is carefully constructed to help you develop your crafting skills and knowledge.
Crafting and our courses are mindful, taking us away from the day-to-day. Participants have consistently reported improvements in their wellbeing. Anyone who wants to learn new skills can join our programmes. No previous experience of papercrafting or mixed media work is needed. We have delivered courses successfully in Cambridgeshire for 6 1/2 years and have worked with 280 Cambridges residents during this time. 86% of participants state that what we offer has helped to improve their wellbeing. 75% state that it has made a positive difference to their daily lives. 
Please note that the banner/photo shows crafted items that we have made during this course at different times. The items made in this course are similar. The Cademy calenda/description states that this course is over 14 weeks. This is because the 10 weeks of the course are delivered over 13 weeks, during 3 of which, Craft4Smiles is closed for holidays!

Craft4Smiles C.I.C. 

A standalone 10 week/session course that will introduce you to the basic materials, tools, equipment and techniques used in paper crafting and mixed media work and to Craft4Smiles C.I.C and our tutors.  You will be sent all the materials and equipment needed to complete the course. At the end of each lesson you will have a crafted item to take away to keep or show family and friends. You will be told about the other courses you offer so that you can make an informed choice about further learning.

We are excited to have the immensely talented mixed-media textile artist Linda Harvey join us for our April Tea 'N Chat event. With over 25 years of experience in both teaching and creating, Linda brings a deep well of knowledge and a true passion for her craft. As the Head of Textiles at Archbishop Holgate's School in York and a dedicated member of York Textile Artists and The Society for Embroidered Work, Linda's commitment to her art is truly inspiring.
Linda’s artwork is a mesmerizing fusion of rustic textures and innovative techniques. Drawing inspiration from her travels, she transforms photographs into expressive, abstract textile creations. Her work beautifully reflects her love for color and texture, incorporating elements such as hand-felted backgrounds, free-motion embroidery, intricate layering, and rust dyeing.

LINDA HARVEY  Textile Artist and Head of Textiles at Archbishop Colgate School, York

Linda studied Textiles and Surface Design at University Centre Somerset, graduating in 1994. She is a textile artist and Head of Textiles at a York secondary school and a member of York Textile Artists and The Society for Embroidered Work, which promotes and supports the best in stitched art worldwide.
The inspiration for her work mainly comes from the places she visits, taking photographs of anything that catches her eye. These photographs give a starting point from which her work evolves, often working on several pieces at a time, as she enjoys an expressive and experimental way of working.
Linda is inspired by rustic textures and the ageing process, drawn to anything corroded and tarnished and immediately seeing how it can be turned into a textile art piece. Colour and texture are the key elements in her work.



The Textiles Skills Centre Associates are a team of volunteers that manage the social media platforms and website, and offer support, mentorship and advice to textile teachers and trainees. We organise free resource networking events each month (Tea 'N Chat) and are always on hand to help and encourage when needed.

CLAB Candle Artist Course

This qualification is designed for learners aged pre-16 and above who wish to develop skills and knowledge in creative craft. This course has been designed to be as affordable for families as possible.Please note, this is not a GCSE but is a GCSE Level course which is why it is designed to span 2 years, although we offer complete flexibility on the timeframe that learners can complete within.This qualification is a Level 2 Qualification and is Ofqual approved carrying 15 credits. This qualification is designed for learners aged pre-16 and above who wish to develop skills and knowledge in creative craft.

This course has been designed to be as affordable for families as possible.
Please note, this is not a GCSE but is a GCSE Level course which is why it is designed to span 2 years, although we offer complete flexibility on the timeframe that learners can complete within.
This qualification is a Level 2 Qualification and is Ofqual approved carrying 15 credits. Other examples of Level 2 qualifications are BTEC Level 2 and the Silver Arts Award. Feedback from our past learners shows that this qualiifcation is widely regarded as level to a grade A*-C/4-9 at GCSE standard when applying for college or work placements.
Please also note, that whether this course is recognised as a GCSE equivalent by colleges and further education establishments, can vary according to location, college and even between courses at the same college.
