If you love abstract art and texture then this workshop is for you! You will learn how to mix and blend from a variety of materials from natural stone to plastic beads, stained glass to broken china. What to expect You will be shown how to prepare the base, mix your own adhesive and combine your materials using a range of techniques to create interest and texture. Who is this for? Suitable for beginners, however, those with some mosaic experience are also welcome to join. Learn to applique, learn what tools and tricks you need to really make this work for you. Also get to grips with the really free and artistic free motion machine embroidery technique. Set your machine free to draw with it, combined with applique you can make stunning art! This is a very practical and hands on class which will see you appliqueing & free motion stitching in no time, the techniques are easily mastered so you can spend your time creating. Part of a 4 day quilting course, but suitable as a stand alone course too.

Learn to sew a child's garment in this long (6 hours ish) day class. I stock the Two Stitches patterns (https://www.twostitchespatterns.com/printed-patterns-1) and one of these is included in your class fee. I also have patterns for quite a few simple baby and toddler garments you can use. Once you ket me know what you want to make and what size I will let you know how much and what kind of fabric you need and what else you need to bring. This is a fairly high paced class so you need to be ok with threading up etc aline and know how to make seams, backstitch etc. The sewing won't be complex but we won't have time to explain how a machine works. If you are not sure please do a beginners or refresher's class first.

Sewing machine class for absolute beginners. The class will cover setting up a machine, learning about thread, bobbins, needles, feet, fabric, basic maintenance, tools, making seams and hems, understanding seam allowances, and you will create a cushion cover to take home with you.

Learn how to make really fun and creative bowls from rope and bits of scrap fabric. I will teach you all you need to know and I will supply all you need to get going. It is SO fun and SO versatile! You decide on the shape, size and colours! This is a very practical and hands on class which will see you making stuff in no time. All tools, use of machines and materials are included. The class will finish around 1pm

In this class we will talk about different kinds of wadding and will learn about the quilting together of all the layers with either straight lines or freemotion stitching. Then we will learn to bind our mini quilts (bring the mini quilt tops we created in earlier classes, or bring your own) Wadding and thread all included in the price, as well as a copy of my In Stitches sewing handbook. You will also receive a free walking and free motion foot for your machine! Just let me know when you book what machine you have (this offer does not apply to Bernina feet I'm afraid!)

Start by learning to read a commercial dressmaking pattern, adjusting it to your own unique measurements, and then learn to sew up your garment. The class has a maximum of 4 people in it so you get tons of one to one support, and you will learn a lot! This is a really comprehensive introduction to learning to make your own clothes. It is a small class and nicely paced so you will be able to ask all the questions and really delve quite deep into it all. Most of my past students now regulary make their own clothes! I am passionate about teaching people about fit and we will talk about dart manipulation, bust adjustments, neckline and sleeve adjustments etc. We usually all work from the same pattern but if you want to make something else because you, for example, don't wear dresses, I am very flexible.

Come and join us here at Stitch! and learn mosaic crochet with the wonderful Kay Dudman. This is a technique that gives you the opportunity to use two different colours without changing wool. You can create beautiful geometric designs with whatever colour combinations you like. During this workshop you will be covering inset and overlay mosaic techniques. You will be working on a panel learning the these basic techniques that you can continue at home to make a blanket or you can incorporate it into other projects.
