This one day course runs from 10.00 - 4.00 and includes free parking, drinks and light refreshments. Lunch can be bought in the local shops and cafes if required. No experience is needed for this course and it is suitable for all ages from teens and beyond. You will take your completed footstool home at the end of the day.
Class sizes are limited to 8 and there will be two tutors on the day to provide an appropriate level of guidance and instruction. This is a fantastic introduction to the skills of upholstery and many students continue to a full 12 week course with more complex items of furniture renovation.
You will learn how to work with a variety of tools and equipment, work with fabric to get the best from the pattern, how to apply foam, how to fold and cut corners, how to shallow button and how to finish a project. You will also have a choice of waxes to finish your legs to complement your chosen fabric.&nbsp;
Cost for the day including all materials and use of tools to complete the footstool to the point where it needs a top cover is &pound;145. You will need to supply a metre of your chosen top cover fabric. The standard size of the footstool on this course is approx 50cm x 35cm and 30cm in height. Small Queen Anne legs are used and can be waxed or stained to match your fabric. If you want to paint the legs please check with us at the time of booking.&nbsp;

I will reveal how to master light within the landscape using various techniques.We will start by understanding the fundamental principles of light and tone, experimenting with a range of mixed media materials, including how to make your own signature paint from pigment. I will show you how to translate and transcribe the landscape by slowing down and observing the landscape through sketching exercises.You will discover how to apply contrast, colour theory, and tonal values to create beautiful skies that burst with light, dramatic seascapes and moody landscapes.&nbsp;This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as anyone interested in creating beautiful landscapes. We use a natural living moss base and foraged foliage, as well as dried wildflowers and seedheads I've grown and collected, to create beautiful and unique wild wreaths. The base can be reused every season to create more lovely wreaths, as wreaths are not just for Christmas! Plenty of hot drinks, mulled wine and festive homemade cakes will be available throughout. Please bring your own secateurs if you have some.

A brief introduction and demonstration on mosaic making using the Direct Method. Included will be how to use tile nippers, how to create shapes and an explanation of various andamento styles and how to grout. Please note that grouting will not be done in this class however you will receive a grout bag to take home with full instructions (including a video for reference).

Suitable for beginners, however, those with some mosaic experience are also welcome to join.

Join us for a FREE Tea 'N Chat with NICKY SIMPSON who will demo and lead a mini workshop on Surface textiles and talk about her online courses.

Nicky's aim is to show how easily accessible surface textiles techniques can be for every level of student and how it can be delivered in a fun and engaging way.
She will also introduce you to her online and face-2-face courses with an opportunity to ask questions.

Marbling is great way of introducing a quick and easy surface technique if you have little to no prior experience. Especially good for students who will get immediate exciting and inspiring results.!
A beginner friendly workshop to produce great artwork for textile projects.

If you want to join in you will need: 
tray of cold water (min 5cm deep)
oil paint 2 colours
white spirit
glass jar and brush to mix/have a cloth for spills and a table cover
pipette 
paper or fabric to marble
