Pottery Open Sessions

This workshop gives you the unique opportunity to experience the basics of two crafts in 1 day in your own personal workshop with one to one tuition. The studios are located in the cottage garden of our home on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border. Your experience is private to you and there will be no other students in the studios. The "2 crafts in 1 day" workshop is aimed at those who want to have a go at both of these fun crafts, and come away having learnt some basic techniques for both disciplines. As this is basically a private tuition experience, the course is focused but fun, so would make a fantastic gift. The day can also be experienced by two people (to book this, please refer to our other workshop ""2 Crafts in 1 Day!" 1-2-1 woodturning & pottery experience in 1 day for 2 people" where each person could experience the crafts singularly or together.  This makes for a wonderful Valentine's or anniversary experience, and can also be enjoyed by a parent and child. The morning is spent learning the ropes of woodturning - how to cut and shape wood on the lathe, understanding a little about the different tools required, and making a few pieces to take home. After a light farmhouse-style lunch (which we provide and which we tailor to your dietary requirements), the afternoon then continues with a pottery session. Students can have fun with clay, focusing on some basic hand building methods to get them used to handling the material using the techniques of pinching, coiling, slab building and also throwing on the wheel.  A total of 3 pieces can then be chosen for us to glaze and fire once they have dried sufficiently. When ready, they can either be collected by the student (if they live locally) or I can post them on (I have to charge postage & packaging). Refreshments are provided during both workshops, and a light, rustic farmhouse-style lunch is also included - catering to all dietary requirements. Depending on the weather/time of year, lunch can be taken either out in the cottage garden or in our country kitchen. The sessions are hands-on with expert 1-2-1 tuition - and the student will be able to use all the studio facilities. Each student will also be provided with a certificate of participation for both crafts. About a week before your workshop date, we'll e-mail you again with more details about parking etc. We also offer accommodation in the form of our Crafter's Retreat cabin (www.craftersretreat.co.uk) or we can advise of other local B&Bs.

Discover the golden art of Kintsugi. The perfect answer to fixing or upcycling sentimental pottery. Whether it's your favourite cup or your Nan's best vase, during this uplifting pottery workshop, we'll take you on a step-by-step journey to fix or upcycle pottery using gold metallic lacquer that is visible and beautiful. Loosely translated, Kintsugi means 'golden joinery' that highlights your object's events rather than disguises them. It can also be seen as a variant of "Waste not, want not".  All materials and tools are provided to fix one piece of ceramics per person across 1.5 hours. You can bring your own broken pottery or we have some pottery ready for you to upcycle and take home. You don’t need any experience, as your guide will be on hand with plenty of one-to-one support, letting you switch off from the world to focus entirely on yourself and follow your mind, body and spirit during the session. At the end of this Kintsugi class in London, you'll have a beautiful piece of pottery, along with a new skill to continue developing in your own time! Good to know: All workshops take place at AC Studios, CC1 Studio 2, Trinity Buoy Wharf, E14 OJW Group workshop of up to 10 people All materials and tools are provided to fix one piece of ceramics per person across 1.5 hours that you can take home there and then. Feel free to bring your own broken pottery otherwise, we have some pottery ready for you to upcycle and take home. Ideal for anyone & everyone no matter your experience but persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a paying adult By purchasing it will imply you have read & understood our t&c’s. All ages welcome for 8 plus they can sculpt what they like for two hours or you can have a theme, the birthday child has a go on the wheel too. A small ball of air hardening clay each to take home in your party bags (clay tools are also available for party bags on request for an additional charge). . you are welcome to bring your own drinks and nibbles and have a wander around the animals too. Two and a half  hrs for 8 people or over £35 THEN £15 PER CHILD

These sessions include welding , grinding , torch cutting and design and construction of metal sculpture work. From an hour to make a bolt man to a family group session of 3 hours to make a large sculpture the possibilities are endless.  £40 an hour then £15 any additional person

Something to remember. Book 8 or more people and get two hours to sculpt what you like with a pre thrown plate to all sign as a keepsake for the day. The birthday person or hen gets to have a go on the pottery wheel too. You are welcome to bring your own drinks and nibbles and have a wander around the animals too. If your looking to really get to grips with throwing, from handles to lids, tea pots to platters. Then why not book in for a two day session or a couple of hours a week £35 per person per hour £20 any additional person per hour.

For a lovely set of hand and foot prints why not book in for an hour of squishing hands and toes in clay and making coloured hand prints in what ever shape you like. More than one child? then keep them entertained making a few things while they wait there turn. £35 per hour £10 any additional child.
