Based at our ancient woodland camp in Kent, our 1 Day Spoon Carving course has been put together for anyone who would like to understand how to use simple tools to create beautiful items from greenwood. Whilst we are certain that you will leave us with a great hand carved spoon, you will also leave us with new found confidence and ability having mastered the use of the knife and axe. We'll start the day by looking at a variety of carving techniques using an axe and knife. Safety and being able to work with minimum of effort will be the main focus of the session. You will also learn to identify which strokes are best suited for different kinds of cuts. After this session you will be ready for a days carving. You will also learn about: • Properties of different woods • Selecting your wood and splitting techniques • Swedish spoon design • How to sharpen your carving tools. About us and the venue: Jack Raven Bushcraft was founded in 2011 and we've been delivering bushcraft, craft and foraging courses since then from our 30 acre private ancient woodland on the Kent Downs in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Courses in the summer are held outdoors in our woodland camp complete with covered work areas, an outdoor kitchen and a composting loo. Courses in the winter are held in our workshop in a converted barn. Our one-day sanding and flatting course for automotive paintwork is for experienced detailers looking to add to their portfolio with the ultimate refinement and correction technique to improve results, and productivity, and add a valuable and marketable service to their business. Sanding is a skill which can be used to perfect and rectify the harshest repairable damage and imperfect paintwork. Using a range of tools from electric and pneumatic sanders to specialist tools and compounds, you will work through the day to perfect a series of ever more challenging panels under the watchful eye of our instructors who are there to guide and demonstrate every step. wet sanding is a critically difficult skill which can bring high-yield finishes to a detailing portfolio and turn around the most challenging and rewarding of projects. Course fees cover all materials and lunch, with the day starting at 9.30 and running to around 4.30 pm. Stained Glass Workshop: 2 Days

The one day glass fusing course is designed to give total beginners an introduction to a new skill, and allow more time to create a larger piece of work. At the end of the day, you will have created a glass bowl, wall hanging or large wave (approx 30cm x 30cm). You should also have had some fun! I keep the glass fusing classes small, to make sure it's easy to give everyone as much input as is required. There is a 2m gap between all work-stations, to help maintain social distancing. We also provide visors (or you can wear your own mask), and there is lots & lots of hand sanitiser. All equipment & materials are disinfected before the start of each day. You don't need to bring any materials, as everything required to create your piece of work is provided. The only thing you need to wear are closed shoes (e.g. no sandals), and to bring some lunch. We can also arrange lunch at a small cost, if required. You'll start the day by creating a design - you can bring your own, or we can provide one. You'll learn how to cut the glass & then build up your design which is then fired overnight. You will be able to collect your design the next day, or we can arrange to post it to you (you just need to cover the cost of the postage). Timings: 10am - 4pm Buying as a gift? Just select the most appropriate date and, if that turns out not to be suitable, the recipient can simply reschedule over the phone or by email (we just need 2 weeks' notice).
