The UKDA Advanced Machine Polishing (professional) Course is a day for those who would like to develop their technique further on all machine styles to produce the high-end, high-efficiency finish that is the marque of the most accomplished detailers. Taking cues from any existing experience, we will push the boundaries of your polishing abilities over the edge, running rotary DA and forced drives to their limit to give to the skills to drive up your efficiency and perfect paint like never before. The UKDA Advanced Machine Polishing (professional) Course is a 2 day for those who would like to develop their technique further on all machine styles to produce the high-end, high-efficiency finish that is the marque of the most accomplished detailers. Far from there being a consistent method - there are a number of subtle variations you can make to what would be termed a 'standard' technique which will speed up your process, enhance further your gloss extracting capabilities and make the right choice in machine based on paint types, conditions and ancillary equipment. On this day we will run through variables in speed and pad choices, show the differences ambient temperature and rebound can make to a job, explain the different approaches based on clear coat solids, look at how far you can push a painted surface, and much much more. The course is run over two full days (9.30 am - 4.30 pm) and picks up where both our introduction course and the Flexxpert Seminar leave off, so is also the perfect follow-up to those who have attended either course, in addition to those who want to learn all about machine polishing in every style. Come and join Janine at Stitching Kitchen for a one day quilt top course learning how to make a disappearing nine patch quilt. This workshop will take place over one full day. It is suitable for total novices, taking you through everything you need to know to build confidence in quilt-making. If you are a more experienced quilter, you will enjoy learning a new technique that has so many creative possiblities, and you can benefit from Janine’s years of experience to pick up tips and tricks for a professional, polished quilt. Your tutor Janine also holds monthly long-arm clinics at Stitching Kitchen that you'd be welcome to drop into if you'd like any further pointers, or would like to outsource the quilt finishing to her! What you will learn/achieve 1. Understanding the Nine Patch Block Structure You will learn how to create a traditional 3x3 Nine Patch quilt block, focusing on color placement and fabric contrast to maximize visual interest after the transformation. 2. Cutting and Rearranging Techniques You will then practice the “disappearing” technique: cutting the finished Nine Patch into quarters and rearranging the sections to create a new, more complex-looking block. 3. Design Variations and Layout Possibilities Janine will encourage you to explore different layout options using the same block pieces, discovering how rotating and rearranging the quarter blocks can produce unique quilt top designs. 4. Precision Sewing and Pressing for Accurate Blocks The workshop will emphasise best practices for accurate piecing and pressing, which are crucial for achieving clean lines and proper alignment after cutting and reassembling the blocks. What's included Tuition: full instruction and support in a small class. Written instructions that you can take away and refer back to at home. Use of all the tools you will need during the workshop. Use of the Pfaff and Janome sewing machines in Stitching Kitchen's fully equipped studio.  Tea and cake. What to bring Fabrics to make your disappearing nine patch blocks. We will send you a materials list, but just give us a call or drop in to the studio if you would like further advice, and we can also make suggestions about where to purchase quilting fabric. Stitching Kitchen has thread available to purchase. You won’t need to bring anything else and you can leave your sewing machine at home. Stitching Kitchen is fully equipped with Pfaff and Janome sewing machines and all the quilting tools and sewing kit for use during the workshop. We will stop for 30 minutes for lunch, do bring a packed lunch along. Stitching Kitchen also stocks a full range of haberdashery, batting and quilting tools if you discover anything you would like to purchase to use at home. This course is ideal for all, from beginners to confident makers. You will learn the basics of leather craft for accessories and be introduced to techniques including machine stitching on leather, hand finishing and hand cutting. You will also be working with the full spectrum of leather types from soft leathers and suedes to a hard sturdy veg tanned leather. This is a perfect introductory course to start your journey into leatherwork and bag making as you will experience the wide variety of tasks involved in the work. In order to complete your bag in a day we will use part pre-prepared components and the bag will be made from a ‘Hands of Tym’ pattern but do not fear there is still plenty of work for you to do. During the day you will be directed by your tutor Leathersmith and London College of Fashion Lecturer Georgie Tym to make a 'Turned seam' Leather backpack with drawstring and flap closure. It will have raw edge straps with buckles to adjust and one flat pocket. The dimensions of the bag are 250mm x 310mm x 200mm. The bag is fully lined and it will be the same construction as the bag in the photos - please contact for more info or view online Parking available on the drive with easy access via the M40. Banbury train station is a 30 min walk. Trains run from both London Marylebone and Birmingham to Banbury in 50mins. Also well connected to Reading, Oxford, Leamington Spa to name a few. Including reindeer..add a red nose, Xmas trees...add a little tinsel snow to the top and a 10" rush angel for the top of your tree, plus stars, and mini wreath hoops. Festive snacks and a glass of mulled wine included.
