Who is the event for?
The forum is aimed at history and geography teachers and subject leaders in primary schools. The event will share ideas that can be adapted to support pupils at EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2.

Why should I attend this event?
There has never been a more important time to focus attention on the climate and nature crisis: leading climate scientists are warning that many of Earth’s ‘vital signs’ have hit record extremes, and a high number of students are concerned about climate change and the future. A recent report from University College London on the role of subjects in climate change and sustainability education recommended that high quality professional development about climate change and sustainability education is urgently needed for all teachers, tailored by subject and age phase and focused on subject knowledge and appropriate pedagogies. It emphasised that subject associations are particularly important role to this and highlighted the benefit of fostering communities of practice such as these as a way of building teacher capacity.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Anika Carpenter is a flash fiction author, workshop facilitator and artist with a background in the Fine Arts. Her fiction has been shortlisted for the Bath Flash Fiction Award and the Bridport Prize and has been published in numerous anthologies. You can find her stories at Gone Lawn, Ellipsis Zine, The Molotov Cocktail, Janus Literary and many more.

Anika received a Fine Art MA (distinction) with a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Kingston University in 2010. She spent ten years working as an assistant to Turner Prize winning artists. Anika's own artwork has been exhibited at Towner Gallery and featured in numerous group exhibitions. She is the co-founder of Accident & Emergence (currently on hiatus) an artist-led project that organised collaborations, exhibitions and retreats.

Someone you know recently said with an Austrian accent that "You should always have a Plan" and we do agree when it comes to Drawing, Painting or any Creative activity. Here is one plan we created for you.

<li>You smile, get really excited and look for all Art materials that you thought had gone and set yourself up making sure the Floor is kept protected, preferably not too far from a TV screen that you could HDMI connect to your PC for the class so you may use an easel for example.</li>
<li>you book a class here on Cademy and write it down on your Diary after ordering bits you need online.</li>
<li>The days has come, you've installed zoom on your PC, connected the Tele to it, got your equipment ready, kettle nearby and cookies (OH no! sorry not those) and had a look at our latest drawings captured at classes at http://e.pc.cd/r7WotalK or on Google to feel inspired/create a plan. Then you'll connect at 6.25pm so we can let you in. Classes usually start at 6.32pm but you can drop in at anytime even 5 mins before the end.</li>
<li>The Teacher will tell you what he/she would do, look at, keep an eye on or the opposite the don'ts. Trying to get you to add tools to your Artist tool box that you will use more and more, quicklier and more automatically so you can develop other sides of your Art.</li>
<li>Maybe your Wifi goes bad, you received a job call or you just forgot, oh no! In this case you have nothing to worry about as you now know that you can draw at anytime from the recording.</li>
<li>You've drawn for 2 to 3 hours (as occasionally we get a new life model who want to audition at the end for an hour), you feel amazing, you forgot Everything so you'll then mingle with other similar minded participants showing your drawings and getting feedback and tips. Some days you may want to rush out or not show any drawings and all is fine.</li>
<li>You want more and discovered that what you've paid for one class could be the same for a all Month (15 to 18 classes) and so you email us to find out more at eukart at msn.com.</li>
<li>You feel more and more part of a Local community and heard that we put everyone together on the Art Map such ass classes, models, Art teachers, Artists, and more and because you filled your Registration form here we'll help you appear on it.</li>
<li>You tell friends, family, Kids (as we also have classes for them), Parents, grand Parents, anyone who loves this hobby or needs one. If you are good at Social Networking then we have a great incentive for you. If anyone ask you what, who we are simply say that we are the People who went mad 18 years ago, and voluntarily did the impossible of saving Life Drawing Classes from extinction, Went on Tele and Radio with celebs many times, brought classes to 400 locations where no one has Drawn before from Parks, Offices, Squats, Empty buildings, etc, and don't charge anything for their help and guidance since 2003. LOOKING FOR: CHILDREN'S: PICTURE BOOK TEXTS, NON-FICTION, POETRY

Lucy Brownridge is Editorial Director at Wide Eyed Editions and Frances Lincoln Children’s Books, and formerly Thames & Hudson where she helped to establish the Children’s list. She specialises in highly illustrated picture books and non-fiction (including poetry) for children. She has commissioned and edited books which have gone on to win the Carnegie Awards, The British Book Awards, the Klaus Flugge Prize, the Blue Peter Prize and have been translated into over 30 languages. She has been editor to Alan Ahlberg, Quentin Blake, Mariajo Ilustrajo, Yuval Zommer and Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho among many others. She is the author of The Fantastical Safari and The Cat Family series, and many other books for children.

She is interested in the history of illustrated children’s books and is always looking for innovative ways to use the book format.

During this training session, we will address the challenges museum staff and volunteers face when creating LGBTQ+ content for children and families. Alongside this we will discuss strategies for advocating for this content and explore resources for planning and implementation. 
 
This webinar will be led by Margaret Middleton, a freelance exhibit designer and museum consultant based in Manchester. Their background is in children's museums and they have written and consulted widely on creating LGBTQ+ museum content for families, especially those with children aged 10 and under. 
 
Margaret will be joined by Dylan Saul, Family Programmes Facilitator and Moa Strand, Families and Young People Programmes Manager at Royal Museums Greenwich and Daniel Jessop, Learning and Community Engagement Officer at Novium Museum, who will talk about their LGBTQ+ work for children and families.
