SQA Approved Training Centre and ITA Approved Learning Centre The Scottish Beauty School in Glasgow is committed to providing the highest standard of nail technician courses, makeup artist courses and beauty courses in Scotland. This can only be achieved by working with the most experienced and qualified educators, and in partnership with Scotland's colleges and national awarding bodies, such as SQA and Skills Development Scotland. The principal of staff leading our team has had more than 30 years running beauty courses in one of UK’s largest further education colleges, and has worked on the design team with SQA on new qualifications. As well as our vast beauty experience the educators are trained in the delivery of lessons, with most having taught in further education colleges. Most recently we have welcomed a science teacher to our team, ensuring that Anatomy and Physiology will enhance the underpinning knowledge for some of our subject areas. With our main trainer in Nail Technology having won awards in America and being considered one of the top competition judges in Scotland we are confident that our training is first class. This wealth of experience raises our standard above the rest.

We provide a range of in-house courses in aesthetic medical practice for registered doctors, dentist and nurses as well as hosting reputable guest courses from external providers. Whether you are just starting out in your aesthetic medical career or you are an experienced practitioner, our training courses are designed with your needs in mind. Our emphasis on facial anatomy and hands-on training means you will get the best chance of moving forward to confidently grow your practice. At the Aesthetic Training Academy, we don’t believe in a paint by numbers approach to injecting. We are passionate in providing our delegates with an understanding on how facial features interact with one another to allow you to treat each of your patients on an individual basis. The Aesthetic Training Academy is the first and only training academy registered with Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS). We are working together with HIS to improve standards and provide better quality care within aesthetic medicine. Getting Started in Aesthetic Medicine We recommend if you are new to aesthetic medicine you begin with our Getting Started in Aesthetic Medicine course. This is a 2-day course in which we spend one full day covering Botulinum Toxin treatments to the forehead, frown and crows feet areas and a second-day covering dermal filler enhancement of lips and reduction of nasolabial and mesolabial folds with dermal filler. We believe a 1-day fast track course simply does not give delegates enough time to feel confident in performing these aesthetic procedures otherwise. We are aware that it may have been some time since delegates have studied facial anatomy and physiology so we spend a portion of the day recapping this too and can recommend pre-course reading materials. Facial assessment is a key section of all of our training courses.

CrossFit Glasgow is proud to have one of the youngest and most successful Scottish Weightlifting coaches ever. Colette Will has been in the sport since she was 15 and has accrued over 13 Scottish Records. She has been a member of the Scottish Weightlifting Team for 5+ years and over the past 5 years has run the CrossFit Glasgow Spartans Weightlifting Club as a fully qualified BWL L2 Club Coach.

My friend was already regularly attending the gym and lifting weights – so naturally he was in much better shape (and stronger) than me. I remember feeling really self conscious, I was older than him but considerably skinnier/lankier. I used to hate the way that clothes would sit on me, especially t-shirts, because my arms would be hanging out of the sleeves like little twigs. While we were abroad, we would go to the gym together and train. He would show me exercises to do, explaining how each individual exercise built upon certain muscles groups and from there onwards I was instantly hooked. I remember the first time I left the gym, I felt so good about myself and all of the hard work i’d put in. My muscles were all pumped up from lifting the weights, I felt HUGE… sadly I was not, but I still loved the feeling. As I got more involved in training I started to learn how different things like nutrition and recovery affect your results, so I started to research more and more on how to maximise my progress. After a few years of endless studying and giving my friends advice/tips, some of them actually asked me “why don’t you become a personal trainer?”. I was still studying to be a gas engineer at this point, which was considered a “good and safe” job so I never really gave it much thought. After my third year of my gas engineering apprenticeship I started to really dread going to work, thinking to myself “is this what my life is going to amount to?” Early & dull mornings, dreading ever second spent at work, working for someone else? At this point I knew something had to change but I stuck through my apprenticeship and got my qualification in may 2016. One or two months into being a fully qualified engineer I signed up for a personal training course which started in January 2017. It was a weekend course but I thought this dream was worth giving up my weekends for. By may 2017 I was a fully qualified personally trainer, and I have now worked with hundreds of people world wide. Throughout my journey, even to this day, I’m still learning more and more about training, nutrition, recovery, anatomy and even mindset. I am constantly studying and striving to really help people change not just their body – but their overall attitude towards fitness. I don’t just want my clients to look better, I want my clients to be better. I want to show them how to exert control over their mind, body and how to push themselves to limits they previously never thought possible.
