National Energy Action, the fuel poverty charity, campaigns so everyone can afford to live in a warm and safe home. This is something denied to millions because of poor housing, low incomes, and high bills. Working across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, everything we do aims to improve the lives of people in fuel poverty. We directly support people with energy and income maximisation advice and we advocate on issues including improving the energy efficiency of our homes. We do not work alone. Partnerships and collaboration have been at the heart of NEA for over 40 years, helping us drive better health and wellbeing outcomes for people struggling to heat their homes. National Energy Action was founded in 1981 when students at Durham University established a group of volunteers to install loft insulation in the homes of elderly local people. Their experiences led them to realise there was a huge problem with people living in cold and unhealthy homes, suffering from fuel poverty. Subsequently, working with Newcastle City Council, this project was replicated on a wider scale by putting together different funding streams to develop community insulation projects. On 18 May 1981, Neighbourhood Energy Action was formally launched as a development programme of the National Council for Voluntary Organisations. Since then Neighbourhood Energy Action has evolved into National Energy Action (NEA), employing over 70 staff across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our actions have brought real social change, enabling millions of people to access grants and assistance to help them live in a warm home. Our campaigning work has also ensured that fuel poverty is now firmly on the public policy agenda. We also work closely with our sister charity Energy Action Scotland. Our work is driven by our passion for climbing and adventure, and commitment to support the next generation of climbers and instructors.  We are proud to be Mountain Training approved providers, and to share our experience and knowledge.  Using our personal and professional experiences, our coaching aims to support clients to enhance their climbing, whether it is breaking grade barriers, working through mental barriers, developing key skills to become more confident and independent, or simply to enjoy climbing more. Our customer feedback and satisfaction rate is consistently high due to our commitment to understand and meet the needs of our clients. We value candidates experience and our staff aim to deliver all Mountain Training courses in-line with the syllabus. In 2008 Jo met and took refuge with Dharma King Dechan Jeuren – MahaVairocana Buddha, lineage bearer of the Esoteric and LinJi Chan schools in China. She received her Dharma name – Zhi Ling. In April 2015, the MahaAmita Temple was opened by the Mayor of Southend-on-Sea. The only Buddhist Temple in the Borough, Jo was then invited by the Mayor to present the Buddhist flags to him at the Southend Borough Annual General Meeting, which he accepted on behalf of the Borough. In 2016 she was invited to become the Buddhist representative for SACRE (Standing Advisory Council on Religious Education) for the Southend Borough and currently sits on the panel. The Founding Director of the Centre, Jo is an ordained Buddhist teacher and runs meditation and healing sessions weekly and Mindfulness courses monthly. She is a huge advocate of teaching and promoting the benefits of meditation and visits schools, groups and organisations within the local community giving talks and workshops. Her personal philosophy is to be as honest and truthful as possible and specialises in teaching how to open up the heart centre. She tries to abide by her Guru’s wishes to “Forgive everyone, help everyone, respect everyone.” If you are interested in Jo visiting your school or organisation or would like to bring a group to visit the Temple, please call the Centre or email directly to discuss.

Here at Bay Fusion we believe that the north west of England, and in particular Morecambe Bay area, is particularly well suited to the development and industrialisation of fusion energy technology. Previously we submitted a location in Heysham to UKAEA as part of its STEP site finding programme. Whilst we were unsuccessful in reaching the final 5 shortlisted sites, we are now focussing on supporting regional supply chains, research and outreach to help promote and advocate fusion opportunities for the region

Myra gained her first degree as a mature student in Scotland and went on to complete her Master’s degree while working full-time for one of the most successful global multidisciplinary consultancies at that time. Two decades on, she has gained her stripes and professional acumen while committing wholeheartedly to the UK’s two leading professional safety organisations. She became a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CFIOSH) in 2021, and also became a Fellow of the Association for Project Safety (FaPS) in the same year. Myra is a banner-waving, passionate advocate for creating positive safety cultures within businesses.
