Neuro EMDR is a recent development in how EMDR can be adapted to work with clients with brain injury and cognitive difficulties. Dr Hutchins has further adapted EMDR to work with clients who have moderate to severe brain injury and he will illustrate this with a specific client video which demonstrates this. Learning outcomes will include:1. For participants to gain a basic understanding of neuro anatomy.2. For participants to gain an understanding of different cognitive domains and how these relate to the practice of EMDR and the adaptive information processing theory3. For participants to develop skills in cognitive rehabilitation strategies which are designed to help clients who have cognitive problems.4. For participants to learn how cognitive rehabilitation strategies can be used throughout the EMDR standard 8 phase protocol5. For participants to see how EMDR can be adapted to clients with moderate to severe brain injury through video material.6. Learners are introduced to the requirements of BS 5839-1. This module includes basic principles of fire safety and an introduction to FD&FA systems requirements within the boundaries of the various legal frameworks within the UK.

Module 2: Design -BS 5839-1
In this module, emphasis is placed on the process of fire alarm design, enquiry, survey, design, certification and the appropriate recording and documentation requirements.

Module 3: Installation -BS 5839-1
This module explores compliance with the standard and how the installer may deal with issues not known to the designer during the installation.

Module 4: Commissioning - BS 5839-1
This module explores the process of commissioning, the requirements of testing and inspecting a newly installed system and how the commissioner may deal with issues not known to the designer and/or nonconformities with the standard.

Module 5: Maintenance - BS 5839-1
This module explores the process of maintenance, the requirements of inspection & servicing existing systems and how the maintainer may deal with non-conformities with the standard.

Exam - L3 Award in the Requirements of FD&FA Systems for Non-Domestic Buildings BS 5839-1: 2017
The RQF examination allows learners to demonstrate knowledge of BS 5839-1: 2017 as part of competence in the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of FD&FA systems. Learners will demonstrate knowledge gained within our previous modules and industry experience.

Managing Complex Safeguarding Issues, including Fabricated Induced Illness, Disguised Compliance, Child Parent Abuse & Parental Mental Health Concerns

The IYTT schedule has been adapted to respond to the opportunities of online teaching whilst maintaining the immediacy of in-person teaching. The course will be delivered in a modular format providing an immersive and cohesive learning experience, both online and in-person.
Schedule
There are 5 training modules in total. Modules 1-4 are five days each, and Module 5 is three days.
Modules 1, 3 and 5 will be delivered in London, in-person. The other dates will be delivered online.
Training days run 9.15 -5.30pm each day. In addition there will be a mock assessment and a final assessment, which will be externally assessed. Mentoring and supervision meetings will be organised at suitable intervals throughout the course.
The course runs over 12 months, providing well over 200 hours of direct contact with senior yoga teachers. There will be a maximum of 14 trainees, to ensure plenty of time for individual attention and mentoring throughout the course.

Assessment
All trainees will be assessed on an ongoing basis throughout the course. We will provide regular feedback and mentoring to help you develop and grow, supporting you as you gain the necessary confidence and knowledge required in your new role as yoga teacher.
All trainees are required to participate in all elements of the course and are required to complete pre-course preparation and reading and a a range of personal research assignments issued during the course.
Written work and personal research
Throughout the course, trainees will be set reading and some written and practical research projects to support their learning. All trainees are required to demonstrate that they have understood and absorbed the material presented during the course through written and practical assignments. Trainees are required to complete the following assignments and research projects:
Maintain your own yoga journal to record your personal yoga practice. This is a tool to encourage trainees to reflect and explore their experience whilst working with breath, meditation, observing, assisting and teaching
Two philosophy essays, to demonstrate your understanding of yoga philosophy
Design a comprehensive 6 week course, suitable for beginners. This should be fully annotated and illustrated with stick figures. You will be thoroughly prepared, guided, and briefed for this homework, and will receive clear and comprehensive feedback
A case study outlining your design and teaching of 10 classes, showing your teaching plans for each class, together with your reflection on your experience
Teaching assessments

Trainees are encouraged to begin practising their teaching skills as soon as possible, to thoroughly prepare them for the formal assessments, so that they develop into skilful and confident teachers. All trainees are required to teach 10 classes, minimum 10 hours of total teaching time, between Module 1 and Module 5.
To successfully graduate from the IYTT course, each trainee’s teaching skills will be observed and assessed on three separate occasions: twice internally (by Catherine Annis) and once externally (by an independent assessor). There will be ample teaching practice during the course modules to prepare you for these assessments.
Mid-term assessmentThe first teaching assessment takes place approximately half way through the course, during Module 3. All trainees will teach two poses to their fellow trainees. You will be provided with comprehensive feedback on all aspects of your teaching skills to help identify areas for development.
Mock assessmentFor the second teaching assessment, the mock assessment, you will design and teach a 60 minute class to a group of at least 5 students. The class plan and the class will be reviewed and feedback will be provided to help you identify areas of strength and any areas where you need to develop to meet the criteria to pass the final assessment.
Final assessmentThe third teaching assessment is the final assessed taught class. This is a 1 hour class of your design, which you teach to a group of at least 5 students. This will be assessed by an external assessor. Trainees are responsible for arranging their own sample students and for paying the necessary assessment fees directly to the assessor (currently on average £90 per assessment).
This assessment procedure is intended to be rigorous, and is designed to ensure that trainees graduate as confident, well-practised, safe and resourceful teachers, who have the necessary skills to adapt and modify their classes to suit students of all abilities. Trainees will take part in regular teaching practice during the modules and in the periods between modules to ensure they are thoroughly prepared for the assessments. The feedback provided throughout the course and during the assessments will help you develop your teaching skills, build confidence and ensure your teaching is clear and easily accessible, so you become an effective and engaging teacher.
Other requirements towards graduation
In addition to the written homework and assessed classes, each trainee will also be required to complete the following elements outside the modules:
60 hours classes / workshops with recommended teachers
30 hours documented self-practice
20 hours observing
10 hours assisting
6 hours first aid (approximate)
5 hours mentor meetings and professional supervision
Personal research assignments to underpin your learning after each module
First Aid Course – All trainees are required to complete a basic First Aid course (at their own expense) before they begin teaching students outside the course.
 
Graduation is only possible once all the above elements have been completed.

4 - IR Vein Detector:
Demonstration of the IR vein detector for assisting in detection of difficult veins.
5 - Veins in back of hand:
Detecting suitable veins in the back of the hand.
6 - POC testing:
Point of Care Testing - use of glucose meter to demonstrate a typical POC test procedure. Correct use and overview of other POC test devices.
7 - Using lancets (finger collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for POC testing and whole blood micro-collection.
8 - Using lancets (heel collection)
We look at the correct use of lancets for neonatal blood spot tests (Guthrie Test).
9 - Capillary collection
Using glass capillary tubes for micro-collection. Correct use and handling.
10 - Microtube collection
Correct use of BD Microtainers (and similar micro-collection bottles) - collection and handling.

The Academy provides a list of Private and NHS Dental Surgeries, who are regularly contacting us when looking for more Trainee Dental Nurses, so you can contact them directly as a registered student at the Academy. This is a paid job, unless you would like to work voluntary for personal reasons. We also provide a reference letter to the employee in case you need it.

The curriculum is based on the GDC (General Dental Council) registration requirements for dental nurses. It sets out the knowledge, skills and behavioural requirements that should be developed and demonstrated. These are set out in terms of professional competencies, with the assessment method clearly outlined (e.g. how the skills and knowledge will be assessed in the final examinations – via written questions such as multiple choice (MCQ) or extended matching questions (EMQ) or via Objective Structured Clinical Examinations – OSCEs). What Can You Expect to Earn as a Dental Nurse? Compared to other caring professions, Dental Nursing is well paid and offers plenty of opportunity for continued training and development. This is great for those looking on a the long-term plan for their career and those who wish to work their way up the ladder through continued learning, experience & hard work. Trainee Dental Nurse salary for standard working week will be around £23,000 per annum. Average wage for a qualified Dental Nurses between £40,417 to £42,350 p.a.
When are the exams?
There are two exams:
1. Multiple choice theory exam. November and March.
2. Practical exam. January and June. 
Record of Experience (eROE)
To be eligible to sit your first exam, you have to complete your electronic Record of Experience (eROE). The eROE has to be submitted to your tutor by 31st Jan for March exam, and 31st August for November exam.

LOOKING FOR: ADULT FICTION

Marilia Savvides founded The Plot Agency in 2024. She began her career in publishing at Peters Fraser and Dunlop, where she spent eight years, first as International Rights Agent, and later as Literary Agent, building her own list of authors. In 2019, she joined 42MP, where she worked as Literary Agent for four years, helping to launch and set up the Book Division.

She is particularly interested in fiction that is beautifully written and cleverly constructed, but still accessible to a wide readership. She is often drawn to darker tales that weave together excellent characters and an impossible-to-put-down story, from immersive book club novels with a splash of suspense, crime and thrillers, accessible horror, and speculative, genre-bending or dystopian stories. She also adores smart, witty contemporary rom-com in the style of Emily Henry.

In the thriller, crime and mystery space she is interested in most areas, except military thrillers and organised crime/ mafia / mob stories. Big hooks and clever set ups are a big bonus! She adores Karin Slaughter (especially her standalone novels) and Gillian Flynn.
In the book club / reading group space, she’s particularly drawn to fiction in the vein of Jodi Picoult, Liane Moriarty and Celeste Ng, and absolutely fell in love with Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll, both for the incredible voice, and the exquisite use of structure and time. Complicated family dynamics, empathetic and smart approaches to controversial issues, stand out protagonists (like Elizabeth Zott in Lessons in Chemistry or Bernadette in Where D’You Go Bernadette), long buried secrets, complicity, the road to justice, and impossible decisions, are all themes she finds herself drawn to.
In the horror space, she’s a sucker for amazing female-centric stories in the vein of Yellowjackets, and the kind of contemporary, accessible horror that Stephen King always nails. She wants to get lost in a world that feels within reach of ours. In the speculative and dystopian spaces, she’s interested in genius ideas that set up big questions or reflect the most broken (and sometimes hidden) parts of society. She loves Octavia Butler, Margaret Atwood, George Orwell, and also adored The Leftovers, Station Eleven, Wanderers, and The Power. The what-ifs of life and fiction fascinate her. In the grounded sci-fi space, she’d love to find a smart, immersive, and accessible story like The Martian.
She doesn’t represent fantasy or romantasy. In regards to sci-fi, unless it’s very grounded and has crossover potential to a mainstream audience, it’s not for her.
In the romance space, she’s particularly drawn to smart, complex and witty characters, where the chemistry is jumping off the page. She loves contemporary settings and all the tropes, though the voice and characters must come first to make the reading experience fully immersive. She wants to be cackling, and rooting for the characters with all her heart.

She is very hands-on editorially, and loves working with her authors to shape their manuscripts, and brainstorm ideas. The best part of the job is discovering debut authors, and helping them find a home for their books.
