This course will include everything you need to get started with practising Zen.
Each week will feature informal talks, practical demonstrations and plenty of
opportunities for questions and discussions. Getting Started – looking at what
meditation is and how it’s practised within the Zen tradition. In the first week
we’ll have practical posture workshops to help you sit with ease and find rest
in a balanced posture that suits you. We’ll also look at embarking upon a daily
practice and tips for how you can get started practising at home. Turning In,
Facing Out – introducing some of the traditions and rituals of Zen and how they
might help us to practice together with the space, with each other and with the
wider world. We’ll go on to have a look at Kinhin and the practice of walking
meditation.
