Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is Chatta effective for older pupils?

Always. Chatta fits with every subject, topic, objective, age  group and language. It’s a teaching and learning approach which is based on audio-visual modelling and scaffolding, breaking down content into manageable chunks and enabling children and young people to turn thoughts into words effortlessly. It’s used in nursery, primary, secondary and special schools.

  • Is Chatta an app?

Chatta is a teaching approach supported by software and training. The software is available on computer browsers and as an app in the iOS App Store. It is much more than an app, as you’ll learn in the course. The software was designed for teaching with the Chatta Approach.

  • Is Chatta a curriculum and set of lesson plans

Chatta fits with every curriculum easily and matches the objectives and priorities of the teacher. We do provide model activity plans but Chatta is not an ‘off the shelf’ curriculum. Its reach and impact is wider , more adaptable and transferable. The power of Chatta comes from understanding how to teach with the approach , the impact it makes and how quickly and simple it is to create teaching resources with the software.

  • What are the costs of Chatta?

For an individual teacher Chatta costs £200 per year . Subscriptions for more staff at school are available and the cost per teacher is reduced. The best way to discuss this and to ensure Chatta meets school priorities and objectives is to contact us: hello@chatta.co.uk

All Chatta subscriptions include software, template resources, training ( including live monthly training and support webinars), monthly activity and resource updates and planning support as required.

  • Does Chatta only work in English ?

Chatta is effective in any language.  Teaching with Chatta is based on teachers’ spoken language and modelling. All of the resources in the Chatta Community are presented as examples in English, but to teach with Chatta it is the voice and language of the teacher which is used.

Equally, Chatta is effective for teaching pupils who are new to English, learning English as a second language, or any language at all.

  • What classroomn technology do I need to teach with Chatta?

Chatta is a teaching approach used by the teacher with the class. You'll need a classroom computer with internet access, preferable with a microphone built in or attached, and a classroom display screen/whiteboard. The children do not need any devices/technology.
