This course is intended for anyone who has already undertaken a basic body massage course training and would like to further their understanding of clients suffering from stress and mental health issues.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
To develop your understanding of the role, skills and qualities of a successful massage therapist in relation to the client who has mental health issues.
To understand the precautions you should take as a therapist when treating a client who is suffering with their mental health
To extend your knowledge of the physiological aspects of mental health and be able to recognise both physical and psychological symptoms
To recognise where certain emotions will manifest as physical symptoms in the body
To better understand the mental health benefits of massage therapy for the client
To understand how to treat a client going through the grieving process
To increase your understanding of depression
To learn about the physiology behind addictive behavioural patterns in those with ADHD and how massage can help
To improve your understanding of eating disorders and how to use massage as a way of improving body image
To increase your knowledge of psychosomatic illness so that you may be able to identify when a client’s physical issue may be due to unmanaged stress levels
To inform yourself of some self help measures to suggest to your client to deal with stress
