• Is my teacher qualified to teach to Academic English to Advanced and Proficiency level?

  Yes.  Your teacher has an M.Sc. and M.Litt. in in Teaching English Applied Ling=uistics with specific focus on Academic Writing.  She also has 40+ years' experience of teaching English, most of which is in Teaching English for Academic Study in universitues in Japan and in the U.K. 

• How will I learn?

  You will learn using a non-traditional approach based in Systemic-Functional Linguistics.  This approach means that you learn INTERCTIVELY as you read and write text CO-OPERATIVELY with your teacher.  Together with your teacher, you will anlyse short text to understand their structure and how the ideas connect in them.  You will also write short texts together with your teacher through 'Screenshare'. Unlike on other courses, where you are told to write a text on your on, on the SSC course, you are guided through the writing procsses as you write WITH your teacher.

• Will I have homework?

  Yes.  You will have optional self-study.  At home, you can read and analyse texts as preparation for your next class, and you can also write short texts which will then be used in class for cooperative rewriting with your teacher and classmates. The more self-study you do, the more you will learn.
