Learn to use Fusion 360 for large 3D print projects confidently, real-life model objects like a phone, and design 3D print parts to fit them precisely. Learn to create multiple 3D print parts that interact together, such as hinges, click systems, and more. Acquire 3D modeling knowledge to use these production methods and create unique designs.
3D printing or additive manufacturing lets you construct a 3D object from a CAD or digital 3D model. It can be done in various processes in which material is deposited, joined, or solidified under computer control. The material is added together (plastics, liquids, or powder grains fused) layer by layer. With this project-based course, you will acquire a useful and valuable set of tools and techniques to advance your designs to the next level while creating fun and applicable 3D printable models for your phone. The major skills you will learn include replicating real-life objects (such as a phone) in 3D and creating 3D print parts to fit these real-life objects precisely (a phone case). You will learn various methods to design and implement movement and interaction between 3D print parts through hinges, sliders, snap joints, click systems, and so on. You will also explore slightly more advanced features within Fusion 360, such as parametric modeling, surface modeling, 3D sketching, and importing pictures or meshes as references in your designs. Upon completion of the course, you will be able to understand the advanced concepts of 3D printing, such as parametric modeling, surface modeling, 3D sketching, and rendering your designs. You will print objects you created through the course and manage 3D printing independently. Learn to model a phone using technical drawings
Create simple and hinged phone cases and model attachment clips
Learn to develop a grip attachment
Develop a foldable tripod attachment
Create hinges, sliders, snap joints, and click systems using 3D printing
Understand how to render the projects you created
This course is designed for someone interested in 3D printing or laser cutting. Individuals interested in 3D modeling using Fusion 360 and even industrial designers that use software to design and print models would benefit from this course. The prerequisites include some experience of Fusion 360.
The course is delivered in a demonstrative and on-screen presentative mode with explanations and images on 3D printing and creating objects using the Fusion 360 software. A final project work of creating an object with advanced features is added to help you practically understand what you learned by creating a complex object.
Replicate real-life objects (phone) in 3D, create 3D print parts to fit these real-life objects (phone case) * Use Fusion 360 to explore parametric modeling, surface modeling, 3D sketching, and rendering prints * Create multiple 3D print parts that interact together (hinges, click systems, and more)

Larno Visser, an industrial designer from the Netherlands, graduated university specializing in 3D modeling; he uses modern manufacturing methods like 3D printing and laser cutting. Larno has worked with several businesses using these production methods to create incredible designs. He has vast experience tutoring people in 3D modeling with his courses on 3D modeling. Desainers - Teaching AI is teamed by Juul and Larno. While Juul is an AI master student, the brains behind the courses, Larno is an experienced Udemy instructor and entrepreneur, creating the actual course materials. Together, they help many individuals ride the new AI technology wave and prepare them to exploit the latest tools, regardless of their background or experience.
1. Introduction
This section introduces the concepts you will learn through this course, including what we will create, an overview of Fusion 360, and what to expect from this course.
1. Introduction In this video, we will look at an introductory overview of the concepts covered in this course, including what we can do with the Fusion 360 software and what you will learn from this course. This will be a project-based course. |
2. Your Phone into Fusion In this video, you will learn to create a phone case, but first, we will begin creating the phone using 3D printing. |
3. Modeling a Phone with Technical Drawings In this video, you will learn to use technical drawings provided by Apple to create an iPhone XR, which is the model we will use throughout this course. |
2. Creating the Phone Case
This section focuses on creating the phone case. You will learn to create simple and hinged phone cases and learn to model an attachment clip.
1. Creating a Simple Phone Case This video demonstrates how to create a simple phone case for the Apple iPhone XR model, for which we will use the technical drawings. |
2. Creating a Hinged Phone Case In this video, we will look at creating a hinged phone case for the iPhone XR model, which will be the project for the remainder of this course. |
3. Upgrading the Hinged Case After learning to create a simple case, we will now up the ante and learn to create a hinged phone case for the iPhone XR model with flips and hinges. |
4. Modeling the Attachment Clip After 3D printing the case we created in the previous lesson, you will learn to create an attachment clip to add features to the phone case. |
3. The Grip - Attachment
This section focuses on creating a grip attachment to fit on the back of the phone case as an additional feature.
1. Creating the Grip Attachment In this video, we will create the grip attachment to the iPhone XR model phone case and design it for attaching it to the back of the case as an additional feature to clip it to clothing. |
2. Finishing the Grip Attachment In this video, we will create the attachment system for the grip to be attachable to the phone case. |
4. The Foldable Tripod - Attachment
This section focuses on designing and creating a foldable tripod attachment and finishing and upgrading the foldable tripod.
1. Creating the Tripod Attachment In this lesson, we will create the second and final attachment to the phone case, a foldable tripod attachment. |
2. Finishing and Upgrading the Tripod In this demonstration, you will learn to make changes to the tripod stand and create extra grips and features to the tripod stand to enhance its functionality. |
5. Render + Conclusion
This section focuses on rendering our design. You will learn to render and print the phone case, the hand grip, and the foldable tripod stand attachment.
1. Rendering the Project In this final course video, you will learn to render the items we created-the Apple iPhone XR model phone case, the hand grip for the phone case, and the foldable tripod stand attachment. |
2. Conclusion This video outlines a thank-you note from the instructor and a final demonstration on how to change the attachment system to be oriented horizontally. |
