This course is designed to give the learner the knowledge and skills needed to effectively support a person with down syndrome. It provides information regarding causes of the condition genetics & screening, behaviours, practical support and how to promote effective communication.
The course is suitable for health & social care professionals, people working within training organisations, teachers & teaching/classroom assistants, parents and informal carers
The course is both theoretical and activity based in nature
The participant will receive up to date research based information relating to drag lift injuries and the implications for service users, care staff and health & social care organisations.
Discussion, case studies and group work will be used to facilitate understanding and knowledge and they will be encouraged to outline their personal experience of the topics covered in the course
assessment will include written questions.
