A fabulous three day face to face facilitation course for anyone wanting to teach or support adults with learning disabilities with sex and relationships. This course is suitable for professionals offering 1:1 support or those wanting to develop group work.
Aim: To support participants to develop their current knowledge, skills and confidence to plan, deliver and evaluate relationships and sex education (RSE) sessions to groups and individuals with learning disabilities
Learning Outcomes: By the end of the course, participants will have:
+ considered the practicalities of delivering RSE to adults with learning disabilities including safeguarding, environment, family involvement and workplace requirements
+ identified how to assess the relationships and sex education needs of an individual with learning disabilities using the Bodysense Education Sexual Knowledge and Behaviour Assessment Tool (all participants will receive a free hard copy of this on the training, and emailed later)
+ explored a suggested 12 week programme of work that can be adapted for your workplace
+ created an inclusive, factually correct, interactive RSE session for a group or an individual with learning disabilities
+ used a range of resources and exercises to design their session taking into account different learning styles
+ practised part of their session with the training participants
This course is appropriate for care workers, clinical staff, social workers, SALTs, OTs, anyone working with adults with learning disabilities.
