A full day needlefelt course with Michelle Hickman of Furzie in the inspirational Slade Centre Art Gallery in the centre of Gillingham.
All materials are provided for you to make any animal of your choosing, which will be based on a wire armature frame, which you will also make. Your finished model will be around 7 inches in height.
Michelle has many years of experience teaching her craft and has also written a book on the subject. The course is suitable for absolute beginners and those with some experience too - there is no requirement for artistic or crafting ability - everyone is welcome.
Refreshments are provided but please bring a packed lunch.

Although it has its roots in a centuries old form of cloth making, needle-felting is a relatively new art, an off-shoot of industrial felt-making from the nineteenth century. Woollen fibres are bonded together using specially designed barbed needles to form a firm material which can be made into 3-D shapes.
No! We use a wire armature frame in the models which immediately helps you with proportions. You will be gently guided through the entire process. Relax and enjoy - you only have yourself to please.
No sewing (or glueing) involved. You will be amazed how the fibres bond together with just a little stabbing.
All materials are included and tools loaned to you. It is important however, to bring a printed picture of the animal you would like to make.
