Waves at UTC Portsmouth

Description

The topic of this workshop is Waves and it will be led by Jeremy Thomas and James Loosely at Portsmouth University.

In this session you will develop your understanding of the ripple tank required practical using water waves, heartbeat analogies, slinkies, simulations and mini ripple tanks. You will explore frequency, period and wavelength, derive the wave equation, and collect data using photographs or slow-motion video. You will also consider apparatus setup, measurement challenges, alternative approaches, evaluation, differentiation and Working Scientifically skills.
