Description

Join us for this session ‘Hooke’s Law and Young’s Modulus Experiments’ led by Neal Gupta, Physics Partners Coach and hosted by The Kimberley School, NG16 2NJ.

Hooke's law describes how a specific object stretches, whereas Young's modulus defines how the material itself responds to tension regardless of size or shape. The first part of the workshop will look at an alternative method for conducting the Hooke’s Law GCSE required practical. There are several challenges with setting up and taking measurements when measuring the Young’s modulus of a wire at A Level. Whilst there are challenges with this experiment, this is an excellent opportunity for developing the practical skills of A Level students. The second part of the workshop will look at a method for the Young’s Modulus experiment, strategies for minimising uncertainties and dealing with uncertainties in the analysis of the experiment.

Expect plenty of cake, new ideas and chances for hands-on experimentation!

Physics Partners are delighted to be offering a series of twilight workshops for teachers of Physics in Kimberley and the surrounding area.
