The topic of this workshop is Stretching Springs and it will be led by Jeremy Thomas and James Loosely at Portsmouth University.
In this session you will explore the Hooke’s law required practical through marshmallows, exercise bands and Newton meters. You will investigate force, extension and stiffness, complete the standard spring experiment, graph results, calculate spring constant and determine elastic energy. You will also consider apparatus setup, parallax, resolution, repeats, precision, safety, calibration, alternative arrangements, differentiation and relevant Working Scientifically classroom skills.
