Description

The aim of the course is to make you feel trained, competent and confident to use dry needling/medical acupuncture the next day you are in clinic.

Course is suitable for Osteopaths, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and Sports Therapists at Level 4 and above. Course is also suitable for final year students of the above.

Part 1 will cover the –

Rationale and history of using dry needling

Clinical implications

Contra-indications and considerations

Identify and locating myofasical trigger points

The best conditions and symptoms to use dry needling

How to combine dry needling into your treatments to develop a comprehensive approach and awareness when to use


Practical application for the following muscles/areas;

Sub occipitals

Trapezius and Levator Scapulae

Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Subscapularis, Teres Minor, Deltoids

Thoracic and Lumbar Erector Spinae 

Gluteus maximus, medius, minimus, Piriformis

Forearm extensors and Flexors 

Quadriceps, Hamstrings, gastrocnemius and Soleus, Achilles tendon

Free set of acupuncture needles will be given at the end of the course for you to use the following day in practice.

Parts 1 and 2 can be booked at the same time. 

Please check with your insurance provider as some will only give full cover if both parts are complete.

Dry needling (part 2)

This course is designed for those who have previously attended and completed one of our Medical Acupuncture Courses.

This course will look at more technical areas in comparison to our basic course (Part 1) as we will explore more sensitive areas, including

Muscles of mastication

Anterior cervical spine

Deep tissues of cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine

Ribs

Forearm - Supinator, Pronator Teres

Carpal tunnel

Popliteus and more

The course will also explore more into pecking, threading and will introduce the use of electric acupuncture. 

Electric acupuncture units will be available to use on the course, but we strongly recommend that you purchase a unit for yourself, to use and get accustomed with using on the course, and for you to take home ready to use the next time your in clinic.
