A platform teaching new skills, working with a fantastic bunch of Sheffield based creatives developing creative skills and learning how to make products on a laser cutter. This has helped to unlock the creative potential of this group of unemployed people through an experiential learning platform and produce something positive to add to the controversial #BenefitsBritian conversation. Learn, Create, Sell has been developed by AALFY, a sheffield based learning provider and Hantu Collective; a platform for positivity and creativity.

The city's official destination marketing organisation, responsible for Sheffield's place brand management and promotion. We are part of Sheffield City Council in the 'City Futures' department, and are therefore funded by public sector budgets. Our aim is to achieve growth for the city - in the widest sense of the word. Whilst economic growth is the most tangible measure of this, place branding is also about the intangibles, and so we work with community organisations, cultural providers, educational institutions and many other private and public stakeholders on collaborative projects that seek to promote the city as an inclusive, progressive and unique place for people to live and work in, as well as visit.

training courses

The NPLQ covers all elements of Pool Rescue Techniques, Lifeguarding Theory, First Aid and CPR. The course is physically demanding and will include swimming to set times, lifting casualties and diving to the deepest part of the swimming pool. Training and assessment for the NPLQ is in three sections and all must be successfully passed to attain the qualification.

Looking for more than just a fitness class or a self defence class? Training with the Oriental Martial Arts Society will not only get you fit through training but, you will learn to develop internally as well as externally. I teach techniques from Bagua, Hsing I and Wudang. Each of these styles have important parts to play in developing body and mind making you a stronger person - good tools to draw on in any situation life may throw at you both physically and mentally. Although based in traditional roots, these have been adapted for a modern approach. Adult classes are open to men and women from 18 years. Classes are being held at Newtongrange Leisure Centre on Saturdays 11am to 12.30pm and on Wednesdays at St Leonards Church Hall, Bonnyrigg 6.45pm to 8.15pm. Class fee is £10 per session. Join and see what potential you could personally achieve. You don't have to be fit to join - this comes naturally through training rather than a rigid exercise regime. If you want to be able to look after yourself, this is for you.

My name is Penny and I’m a triathlon coach, swimming teacher and author of the wild swimming book Dips and Chips. When I’m not coaching and teaching I’m swimming, cycling and running. I live in Coventry which is centrally located in the West Midlands, UK. This makes it easy to get to for workshops or one-to-one lessons.

Members living in the Sheffield area can enjoy writing, learning and networking in our stylish space, located in Sheffield’s Orchard Square.
