London Lit Lab

london lit lab

We believe writers can learn a huge amount from each other. We set up London Lit Lab to share our writerly experience, knowledge and inspiration with up-and-coming writers. Since 2016, we have been designing and teaching our own London Lit Lab courses, and mentoring writers of both fiction and non-fiction. We also teach creative writing courses at other organisations including the British Library, Riba, Mslexia, Arvon Foundation, St Mungo’s, Bath Spa and Birkbeck universities, Writers & Artists and Google. Lily Dunn Lily Dunn is an author, mentor and creative writing teacher. Her first novel, Shadowing the Sun, was published by Portobello Books and her debut nonfiction, Sins of My Father, A Daughter, A Cult, A Wild Unravelling, a memoir about the legacy of her father’s addictions, was published by Weidenfeld and Nicolson in March 2022. You can find her personal essays in Granta, Hinterland, MIR Online, The Real Story and Litro, and she is a regular writer for Aeon. She is in her final writing up year of her doctorate at Birkbeck, University of London, and is interested in how to integrate the therapeutic power of writing with literature. She is co-editor of A Wild and Precious Life, Addiction, physical and mental illness and its aftermath: a collection of stories and poetry from writers in recovery, due to be published by Unbound in May 2021. She teaches creative writing at Bath Spa University and co-runs London Lit Lab. She also has experience teaching marginalised groups, specifically those in recovery from addiction to drugs and alcohol. ‘Lily’s memoir course was first rate. I’ve attended other courses, but this has been by far the best!’ Eva ‘Lily has helped me uncover an unstoppable and undeniable urge to navigate and plot a course through my memories.’ Mia ‘Lily Dunn was exceptional. She knows her material well and delivered it confidently and in accessible chunks to a diverse group of writers and learners. I would do a continuation of this course if one were to be made available.’ James ‘I would like to thank Lily for being such a wonderful giving person and tutor. I really felt that she held the space well for the participants, which is so important considering the nature of the course. Lily was brilliant.’ Denise

Re/Write

re/write

London

I’m Monique Shaw, a career coach, writer, podcaster and brand expert who helps people to rewrite their old stories to create careers, businesses and lives that work. Our stories shape our lives - but we can rewrite them. I’ve rewritten my own story many times to create a life that fits with the way I want to work and live - I founded Re/Write to help you do the same! I started my career in the arts and public sector before pivoting into the corporate world where I spent over a decade shaping marketing, brand, sales and communication strategies. I spent 8 of those years with a Big 4 firm working on rebrand projects, running global campaigns, coaching pitch teams and leading a global sector brand & marketing team. After becoming a parent, I craved a deeper sense of purpose in my work and a different lifestyle. When I turned 40, I took the plunge and rewrote my career story, launching Re/Write and bringing together my love of people, words and self-development with the rigour of my global corporate experience and training. My approach to career change is to work from the inside-out. I don’t focus on job titles, industries or company names, instead I help people to connect with who they are, what they need and how they want to live. We build out from that foundation, right through to creating new habits and shaping the story they tell the world. I’m a qualified Transformational Coach with an accreditation in Group Coaching & Facilitation. I’m a lifelong learner with a Fine Arts undergrad degree, a post-grad in Creative Writing and professional Chartered Institute of Marketing qualifications in Marketing and Digital Marketing. All of these qualifications - along with my professional and personal experience - informs the work I do helping my clients to rewrite their stories. I also work with a not-for-profit organisation, icanyoucantoo running presentation skills and personal brand workshops for smart and ambitious kids form disadvantaged backgrounds because they - like all of us - deserve to write their own stories too. Originally from Australia, I live in London with my husband, young son and 2 rescue pooches. I work with people from all over the world and would love to help you rewrite your story, whatever it is and whatever you want it to be. Curious? Let’s have a chat and explore what you need and how I can help. Monique xx

Haslemere Driving School

haslemere driving school

Driving lessons Haslemere, Chiddingfold, Witley, Milford, Godalming, Guildford, Structured, fun, fast progress that saves money!I have lived in the local area since 1985 and in Haslemere for the past 12 years, so I know the roads very well and the test routes too, not that we keep just to those roads as when you pass your test, you will need to be well equipped to deal with any roads and different traffic conditions Here is what some of our Haslemere pupils have said about my instruction after passing their practical driving test Holly Shellard of Fernhurst, Haslemere ‘I could not have asked for a better driving instructor than Andrew! Driving did not come easily to me, but Andrew throughout remained calm, encouraging and supporting. He prepared me for the exam and everyday driving for once I had passed making me a confident and safe driver. I would highly recommend him to anyone and it’s definitely an A* driving school!! Thanks Andrew! ‘ Josh Terry of Haslemere “Andrew was a great driving instructor, although he was very thorough and knew all the techniques I would say the greatest feature Andrew had was the determination to get me to pass the test. I hated the driving test experience, and sometimes I thought that I was never going to pass however, Andrew made this experience a lot less stressful than it could have been; he was always up for giving a last minute lesson at short notice and would make sure that you understood every detail when driving so that I could do things confidently. All in all a great driving instructor, also good value for money as I passed with just 28 hours of lesson time. Thank you”. Euan Middleton of Haslemere ‘Andrew was a great instructor, always helpful and patient. His style of teaching kept me calm, and his teaching of manoeuvres was especially good. I would really recommend Andrew to anyone who needs a good instructor, no matter what level you’re at!’ Huw David of Haslemere “Thanks for all the help Andrew. I grew much more confident as the lessons went by and thanks for sticking with me, and its given me a massive boost for my last couple of exams so Cheers!!” Scarlett Hawkins of Lurgeshall, Haslemere “Thank you for helping me pass first time, Andrew has made me a confident driver

Bricolage Consulting

bricolage consulting

I see individual growth and development as being both fragmented and interlinked. By applying the concept of bricolage, a term used in anthropology meaning taking things which are available to create something new within a cultural context, I aim to co-create a safe space for individuals to explore this fragmentation. I would support and encourage individuals to see themselves and life more holistically.  Training, supervision and therapy is available in person, online or through blended online therapy with face to face therapy. Therapy can be short term or open-ended. I find open-ended work most effective and satisfying. We usually meet weekly at a regular time, as this tends to be the best way of being able to support the work. I offer daytime and evening therapy and supervision sessions.. Initially I suggest we meet for an exploratory session, to give us both the chance to find out whether we feel we can work well together. As well as exploring what has brought you to therapy, we will discuss confidentiality, privacy of information, cancellations, holidays, reviews of the work and payment arrangements.  If you decide to work with me, we will discuss and sign a written contract together, including privacy and data protection aspects, then review our work regularly thereafter. Salma Siddique, PhD, FHEA, FRSA, FRAI is an academic and clinical (psychotherapist) anthropologist based in Scotland. She obtained her doctorate in anthropology from the University of St. Andrews and later qualified as a UKCP registered psychotherapist and clinical supervisor.  Research areas Her main research teaching is based on the dialogue between psychoanalysis, psychotherapy and anthropology. This is influenced by her clinical experience working with people in trauma resulting from oppression, abuse, torture, fleeing disaster and conflict zones. Salma actively encourages engagement in research based on the philosophy of indigenous epistemologies. Child observation is at the heart of training and enhancing on-going practice-based evidence. Emerging research practitioners will gain a greater understanding in the application of self-analysis to the research. They will apply a diversity of methods such as psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and (auto)ethnography when considering intersubjectivity and its experience of the 'other' within their own configurations of meanings She is a contributor to research writing as a clinical anthropologist. Her work and practice engage with the tension between collective guilt and personal responsibility examined from the witnessing of identity and belonging through displaced lives, racism and systemic oppression.
