We run a variety of scheduled training courses at our Riverside Business Centre but can arrange on-site training anywhere in the Eastern region. Angela Pilkington – Managing Director / First Aid Trainer Angela PilkingtonAngela has been involved with first aid since the 1970’s when she trained in First Aid at Work and became a member of the British Red Cross Society. She gained the IHCD (Pearson) BTec Level 3 Ambulance Crew Award and has for more than 3 decades, carried out ambulance work for the Society and also worked for an independent ambulance company – mainly covering motorsports at Snetterton race circuit. She is also experienced in covering other sports events – rugby, football, horse jumping; public fetes, concerts, and NHS patient transfers. For several years during the 80’s Angela was a volunteer manager for the Red Cross Therapeutic Care Service, responsible for a team of volunteers working in hospitals and centres across the region, fitting this in with her other work. For 3 years Angela worked as a school nurse at a large senior school in Norwich, during this time she was invited to become a part-time First Aid and Child Carers Tutor at City College Norwich. During her time there gaining qualifications in management, marketing and a degree in education. Angela then became full-time Commercial Training Manager for Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex Red Cross. As well as organising a big team of Trainers part of her role was acting as an NVQ Internal Verifier and training Trainers. Along her varied career path she has built up a wealth of knowledge and expertise which reflects in the training courses and level of event cover P & K Training Services can offer. Sahan Society Centre, based in Hayes town within the London Borough of Hillingdon, was incepted in 2006 at the back drop of the closure of the Hillingdon Race Equality Council (HREC), a centre in the Hayes locality and run by the local authority to advise, support and assist service users on equality and race-related issues. The centre had come to a close following a decision made by the local authority to transfer its services to the local authority’s civic centre during the early part of 2006. Prior to its closure, the HREC had carried out a local research on the usefulness of the services offered to its members and service users. It had transpired that the majority of those seeking the centre’s assistance (78%) were of Somali heritage based in the Hayes area amongst other BME communities. This reflected the growing Somali population in the area and the need for targeted assistance and support to be offered to the growing community. The local community, particularly young women and mothers, were unable to understand and utilize the services offered to assist them with their health and child care amongst other needs and found it difficult to communicate these needs due to language barriers and issues of trust. Upon the HREC’s closure, and following on from the research that was carried out in the local community, a discussion was held by the members of the community to create and support the establishment of a local centre aimed at assisting the needs of the local Somali community which had led to the inception of the Sahan Society Centre. Sahan Society Centre continues to support and assist a total of 300 members of the local community. The number of members actively using the centre’s services has grown year on year, starting from 50 in 2006 through to 256 in 2012. The centre is also having an increased number of memberships and participation from older and younger men in the community. Our Ethos as a charity serving the needs of the vulnerable members of our local community are: To promote the participation, integration and cohesion of our members in their communities. To enhance the health and well being of Somali and other BME vulnerable mothers and children through education and leisure. To bridge the gap between Somali and other BME mothers and service providers, assist them with their needs and voice their concerns appropriately on their behalf.

We are an amazing special school and 6th Form with up to 150 students aged between 11 to 19 years old. Students are taught in classes of up to 12 individuals, supported by a teacher and normally at least 1 teaching assistant. Most new students join us in September in either Year 7 or Year 12 but we do admit young people into other year groups throughout the year where vacancies exist. Our students all have complex learning & additional needs (LAN) and all are supported by an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) which is reviewed annually. The majority of students join us are operating at least 3 to 4 years below chronological expectations. Our students’ additional needs include global developmental delay, autism, ADHD / ODD/ADD, anxiety, OCD, sleep apnoea, cerebral palsy, visual or hearing impairment, dyspraxia/coordination difficulties, hydrocephalus, epilepsy, chromosomal abnormalities including Down syndrome, speech, language & communication difficulties. It is our explicit aim to facilitate every opportunity to help address our students wider ‘therapeutic’ needs. Whilst some of our students have some mobility difficulties, due to the split-level nature of our site we are unable to cater for young people in wheelchairs. We describe our young people as not disabled but differently abled. We have a highly dedicated, experienced and specially trained staff team committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for every young person. We believe in building a real and lasting sense of community and belonging – we are proud of being an especially welcoming school. Feeling safe and developing positive and trusting relationships are key to our students’ success. Securing our students’ wellbeing and positive mental health is central to our provision. We employ a multi-disciplinary approach in meeting the needs of our students and each individual is following their own personalised programme. We place special emphasis on partnership working (with parents, other professionals, Local Authorities, business / industry and the local community). Everything we do is designed to ensure positive & successful adult life chances for our students (not just ‘next steps’). The school is located in 21 acres of peaceful and beautiful woodland and we are proud of the high quality and well maintained learning environment we have created, including many specialist resources and teaching areas. Definition of Lipo Surgery Body sculpting is a cosmetic surgery procedure, and is a body reshaping technique that works by selectively removing subdermal fat. Welcome Wells Park School is a LA funded residential primary school which caters for pupils between 5 and 11 years old, who have an educational statement for social, emotional and mental health difficulties.The children board at Wells Park School from Monday to Friday during term time and are referred to the school by Essex County Council. The site is based in a semi-rural area of Essex, close to the London Borough of Redbridge. Educational The education team at Wells Park School strive to help children who have disengaged from school and learning, to develop strategies to manage their behaviour in a classroom. With small classes of up to ten pupils and a minimum of one teacher and one Higher Level Teaching Assistant in each classroom, the staff at Wells Park are able to introduce and maintain clear classroom boundaries for the pupils. Through providing ability, rather than age, appropriate learning tasks, children at Wells Park can experience success in learning and begin to engage and enjoy learning in school. Residential The pupils arrive at school on a Monday morning and leave on Friday, spending four evenings and nights at the school. Residentially, the children are grouped according to their social needs into four ‘houses’ of up to ten children and three care officers. The ‘houses’ have a family feel to them and mirror the interests and personalities of the children living there. As well as sharing breakfast and dinner with their ‘house’ the children are encouraged to develop their self-help skills and to take on responsibilities appropriate to their age and abilities. The children’s life experiences and social skills are greatly enhanced through the variety of activities provided throughout the week. The aim is to support families and carers to enjoy positive experiences and relationships both with their child and the school. Tokens There is a whole school Token Economy system which allows children to earn tokens every ten minutes in school and fifteen minutes residentially, for times when they are making positive choices with their behaviour, such as listening to the adults, being in the right space with their group and getting on with the set task. Our pupils are very motivated to earn tokens as they can exchange their token slips for evening activities throughout the week and saver trips at the end of each year.
