London

I have over 30 years experience of helping people with emotional, spiritual, and psychological difficulties through art, play and creativity. In groups or one-to-one, and more recently online and outdoors too - or a combination of all of these. I am a registered and qualified Art Therapist/Art Psychotherapist; I got my undergraduate degree in Art & Social Context from Dartington College of Arts in 1992 and my Art Therapy Post-Graduate Diploma (MA equivalence) from the University of Herts, UK in 1994. I’m registered (as required by UK Law to practice) with the HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council) and BAAT (British Association of Art Therapists) as both a Clinical Supervisor and Private Practitioner. I am a Kadampa Buddhist, a buddhist gilder & statue artist, a meditator, a sensitive to the energies of nature, animals, spirituality and an advocate for women’s and oppressed beings rights in a patriarchal world. I have a passion and skill for noticing what often doesn’t get noticed. Artistically when I see something – if it lingers I give it voice through acrylics, collage, digital, animation, photography and poetry. Therapeutically, if it lingers we give it voice through energy, creation, speech and sharing. I’ve published articles, undertaken research and lectured/presented nationally and Internationally since 1997. ”I am passionate about the benefits of Art Therapy and therapeutic arts as a way to help empower you toward self-understanding, connection with self, other, the wider world, and whatever for you is that beyond, emotional expression, and resilience building. My working style is honest, empathic and informed by many theories, experiences and practices”. *YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE ANY GOOD AT ART TO DO ART THERAPY* I will bring a hefty 'tool-box' into your sessions from 30+ years of working as a community arts facilitator, artist, care-worker, teacher and art therapist. Using developmental, systemic, creativity theory/practice, eastern and western psychology and philosophy, amongst many other art and life-based skills, I will use what will encourage and challenge you, without pushing you anywhere you are not willing to go. I always works from the 'now', what you bring into each session verbally, emotionally, creatively, physically and spiritually - bringing them all to play in my attunement with you, your creative expression and your way of being in the world. Even though together we will set goals for your therapy, the essence of ART THERAPY always beats its heart in your sessions with me, through spontaneity, accident, play, working together, shared-looking, relationship and exploration. Art therapy can be fun! Art therapy can also be tough. As with life the weave of these and all other emotions, memories and experiences make the tapestry. I have considerable experience of working with a wide range of people: ART THERAPY is applicable for anyone - those who simply feel lost, directionless or unhappy and want to explore themselves & their inner worlds; right through to those experiencing extreme difficulties, perhaps in need of specialist or support services, with complex needs, behavioural distress and serious mental or physical health issues. ART THERAPY by nature is adaptable and responsive to each person's needs, abilities and wants and as such, helps you feel accepted for who and where you are now. I have a particular skill working with the effect of emotional trauma in all it's guises - to achieve your empowerment, develop your resilience and help you embrace change and hold onto hope.” Maybe you struggle with verbal expression ('can't say it, won't say it, don't know how to put words to it') or you experience fear, anxiety, delusions, numbing/dissociation or any other uncomfortable feeling that is affecting your and/or others in your life? Perhaps you or someone you know has autistic spectrum conditions or is living with degenerative or palliative illnesses? I have worked with people suffering in so many ways...Acute mental health breakdown, physical ill-health/degenerative or terminal disease, bullying, growing up, painful life transitions, loss, bereavement, abuse, trauma (sexual abuse, PTSD), anxiety/depression, Aspergers syndrome, forensic histories, Personality disorders and other attachment issues.

Her on a Hill is a women's walking company launched in spring 2019. Our aim is to get more women outdoors enjoying the countryside with all the health benefits that this can bring. We aim to provide a relaxed and enjoyable guided walking holiday or navigation course where you will feel welcomed and well looked after. We know that without happy customers we wouldn’t have a business and we put a huge emphasis on your enjoyment while you are walking or learning to navigate with us. We know that your leisure time is important to you and we want you to get the most out of your time away. In order to achieve this, everything is organised with care and attention. You don’t have to worry about a thing so once you have booked you can sit back, relax and look forward to some great guided walking and /or learning with a small group of women who want similar things from their break. Her on a Hill offers a range of guided walking holidays, navigation courses, guided day walks and workshops, some with additional activities, but all with walking at the heart of things. We aim to provide different levels of walking and learning to suit most women; from leisurely strolls through to mountain hikes and multi-day treks. Our start up programme is intentionally small but we plan to expand our list in line with your feedback and input so do get in touch if you want to help shape Her on a Hill. About Clare Kelly I am a qualified Mountain Leader and National Navigation Award Scheme Course Director and have worked in the outdoor industry for over 20 years. I began my outdoor career working as a walking guide for Exodus, one of the UK's most respected adventure travel company. While with Exodus, I led guided walking holidays in Italy, as well as Nepal, Morocco, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Austria, and Spain. Between 2007 and 2018, I worked as a walking guide for Walking Women, guiding holidays in the UK and beyond. From 2012 to 2018, I was employed as office manager at the same company and combined this role with my guiding. In 2016, I set up Navigation for Women to help women develop new skills, gain confidence in their map and compass reading and put these skills into practice in the hills of the UK. I gain a huge amount of personal satisfaction from passing on the outdoor knowledge that will open up a whole new world of walking to the women who come along. In 2019, I embarked on the next chapter in the form of Her on a Hill. I have long dreamt about running my own walking company for women and I’m really pleased to have taken this huge step. It has been exciting and at times daunting and, now that it is a reality, I am enjoying providing a varied programme of memorable guided walking activities. I hope you’ll join me! Nepal – Where It All Began… In the 90's I lived a fairly sedentary life, living and working in London until one day a friend invited me to join her on a trek in Nepal. At the time, I wasn’t a walker at all but I did enjoy travelling and played squash once a week which, to my mind, meant that I was “fit”. So, of course, I said yes and promptly started training. My idea of training for a Nepalese trek was somewhat ill conceived – wandering the footpaths of Kent and Sussex on a Sunday afternoon really didn’t cut it! In Nepal, I struggled day after day, up and down those trails, cursing and sweating. And then, the mountains worked their magic and very soon it all made sense. The rose-tinted spectacles came out and my life changed forever. I was hooked on walking and on Nepal. The grandeur of the mountains, the wonderful people, the adventure of crossing rivers on rope bridges, the pure scale of the landscape around me, the joy of the simple routine of getting up, walking, eating and sleeping. Reaching Annapurna Sanctuary was simply amazing – to stand in a glacial basin at 4,000m and be surrounded by 7,000m peaks. Indescribable! I’ll never forget the sound of the glacier moving and cracking below as I tried to sleep.

Crimsham Farm

crimsham farm

London

Crimsham Farm is a community farming project, spearheaded and run by Veterans of the ArmedForces and young adults with learning difficulties. We run a variety of weekly clubs that engage with the local community, offering a completely inclusive experience for all. The site itself has been structured on a needs led basis, built and improved at every step through engagement with our users and the wider community, additions made at their request, making us the most unique farming project in the county. Crimsham Farm also acts as an alternative education provision, providing a space away from school for students who struggle to fit with the models of mainstream education and as a therapeutic centre for students with Special Educational Needs. By 2021 we will be host to a Veterans RV where members of the Armed Forces can come for mental health assistance, support groups, drop in centres, breakfast clubs and general information and signposting to help with every day life. With a passion for the outdoors, education and needs, Crimsham Farm is pioneering the way forward in positive therapeutic interactions in a safe and disabled friendly environment, providing a space that cannot be found anywhere else in Sussex in which the local community no matter the cause, can come and join in the fun, whether that’s through reduction of social isolation, inclusion in activities or just somewhere to come for a cuppa and a chat, it can be found here on the farm any time of the day, any time of the year! We have a huge range of activities to engage in, all of which can be found here on the website, and the site is expanding and improving all the time, so if you want to get involved, but cant find your niche, drop us a message or pop by for a chat. If you are a school or charitable institution helping those struggling with mental health or disability based needs, why not come and see what we can offer your clients and students. We truly are a one stop shop for all! As a not for profit, we rely heavily on donations in order to keep up our amazing work, what with the struggles of Covid over the past year, things are even more difficult for everyone than they were before, so, if you know what we do, like what we do and want to help, why not donate now? Any amount will help. Stay local, help local, reap the rewards.
