In this fun workshop you’ll be making a beautiful felted landscape picture in your choice of colours and designs.

Debbie will be demonstrating some simple felting and embellishing techniques and showing you how to create your landscape. You can bring a photograph or picture of your favourite landscape, create a scene from your imagination or use one of Debbie’s range of pre-drawn templates. Choose your gorgeous wool fibres and threads to make your own design. Embellish with stitch, beads and threads if you wish and take home your lovely felted landscape picture at the end of the day.

Course level:
This event is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who want to brush up their skills or just enjoy a couple of hours making a lovely felted landscape!

What you will learn:
How to set up your space, what equipment and materials you will use and how to prepare your fibre for felting
The essential principles of wet-felting – what types of felting methods there are, what fibres you can felt and how the fibres are used.
How to create a 2D piece of felt, working with colours, layering and pattern.
Adding embellishments.
Finishing your landscape with stitching and other techniques

You will need:
Nothing! Debbie will provide a wide range of coloured fibres, threads and embellishments. All the equipment and materials are also included so just bring yourself!

Debbie loves to teach and has been a felter for over 20 years so you'll be able to pick her brains for tips, tricks and hacks! Debbie's sessions are fun and enjoyable. The pace is relaxed and there is plenty of time to ask questions and chat.

Debbie has been a textile artist for over 30 years. Debbie teaches wet and needle-felting, nuno felting and mixed media textiles. Debbie is the author of 5 internationally published books, Hand-Dyed Yarn Craft Projects, Complete Knitting Skills, 250 Knitting Stitches, Knitting.Learn it.Love it and How to Knit.

When she's not felting, dyeing, designing, knitting or crocheting, you'll find her in the garden, tending her dyeplants, enjoying a nice craft beer or hugging a big mug of builders' tea. And if you're out and about, she can often be found in the mosh pit at a gig or enjoying some folk music!

Welcome to my online Exploration through sketching video course, where we will look at how to ‘start a new project’. 
As a professional artist and tutor, I know how important key art skills are. This course is designed to take you through some simple exercises to help you to explore an image and create sketches and ideas to ‘start a new project’.
As a tutor with 20 years’ experience, I love introducing students to techniques they can use to develop their own practice. Whether you are new to art and want to know where to start or are an experienced artist who just finds it hard to ‘start a new project’, then this is the course for you.
What is Exploration through sketching about?
This course is broken down into 5 lessons. Taking you step by step through different ways to observe and develop an idea from one or more source images. Exploration through sketching – starting a new project, has been designed as an online studio-based course for you to work along with at home.

Is this course for me?
Do you want to work from the beginning on simple drawing exercises? Do you want to work on a series of drawings to develop your core skills? Find different ways to work from one source image to generate different ideas? Then yes this is for you.


The course assumes you have a little previous drawing knowledge (although suitable for complete beginners or are an experienced artists who just find it hard to ‘start a new project’) and presents each piece of information or skill in manageable lessons. Allowing you to work through at your own pace, completing each lesson and building on the previous lesson’s skills.
This course is also accompanied by a printable equipment list and source photographs used in the lessons, so you can work along with my demonstrations. Or choose your own images to work with.

<p>In these sessions you will learn skills such as, soldering, piercing (cutting silver with a saw), shaping your metal into rings or pendants. Classes do not have a fixed set of skills, we will teach you what you need to learn to create your design &ndash; so the skills will be tailored for you on an individual basis. If you don&rsquo;t have a design in mind Emmie will help you to create something and learn the basics, so don't worry about ideas if you don't have any yet.</p>
<p>6 sessions cost &pound;120 plus the cost of your metal - the metal costs are to be paid on the day of your class. The cost of the metal depends on your designs and will probably be much less than you expect. At the end of the sessions you can expect to leave with a couple of pieces of silver jewellery &ndash; unique to you!</p>

In these sessions you will learn skills such as, soldering, piercing (cutting silver with a saw), shaping your metal into rings or pendants. Classes do not have a fixed set of skills, we will teach you what you need to learn to create your design – so the skills will be tailored for you on an individual basis. If you don’t have a design in mind Emmie will help you to create something and learn the basics, so don't worry about ideas if you don't have any yet.
6 sessions cost £120 plus the cost of your metal - the metal costs are to be paid on the day of your class. The cost of the metal depends on your designs and will probably be much less than you expect. At the end of the sessions you can expect to leave with a couple of pieces of silver jewellery – unique to you!

Join us for a FREE Tea 'N Chat with Claire Parsons who will will show you how to use fabric scraps to create a range of different outcomes (key rings, cards, hot air balloons) using the same techniques. This allows students to build on skills and confidence whilst making a variety of products.

Claire has been teaching Textiles for 15 years in a range of different schools and settings. Recently she made a life move to a different city and began teaching in a small SEND school. Since starting in January she has had to completely rethink the way she plans, resources and teaches her lessons to a range of different needs and abilities. It has been a refreshing but challenging experience, and she is looking forward to sharing what she has learnt with you.

This qualification is designed for learners aged pre-16 and above who wish to develop skills and knowledge in creative craft.

This course has been designed to be as affordable for families as possible.
Please note, this is not a GCSE but is a GCSE Level course which is why it is designed to span 2 years, although we offer complete flexibility on the timeframe that learners can complete within.
This qualification is a Level 2 Qualification and is Ofqual approved carrying 15 credits. Other examples of Level 2 qualifications are BTEC Level 2 and the Silver Arts Award. Feedback from our past learners shows that this qualiifcation is widely regarded as level to a grade A*-C/4-9 at GCSE standard when applying for college or work placements.
Please also note, that whether this course is recognised as a GCSE equivalent by colleges and further education establishments, can vary according to location, college and even between courses at the same college.
