It seems I am not alone – so many of the adults I now welcome to my workshops may know about some fundamentals of neuroscience but have never linked it all together to see how it drives resilience, mindset and mental health. Providing Safe Maternity Services at ASPH We were extremely saddened to read the recently published report into maternity services at Shrewsbury and Telford and understand that our families in Surrey may have concerns about their care and that of their baby. We would like to assure you that the safety of our birthing services is our top priority. The maternity services provided by Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital are committed to providing safe birthing services, and we continue to work with system partners to improve our services. We are also reviewing the recommendations from the Ockenden Report to ensure we are following the latest best practice.

We currently work to support secondary schools, colleges, private care organisations and pupil referral units and offer both an academic and vocational programme of activities for young people not accessing mainstream education for whatever reason. We can offer students up to a three day programme or a combination of days (up to a maximum of 18 hours per week) to suit your requirements. We can also cater for small groups (4-6 students) and can offer a bespoke programme of activities on either a short term or long term basis. Students can be placed 'on and off' the programme as required and can start the programme as soon as we receive a completed referral and consent/medical form. We liaise closely with the referral agency and the parents/guardian regarding attendance, behaviour and achievement throughout the students placement at A.C.E. and provide daily attendance registers to each referral agency. Student trackers and reports are sent termly and are also available on request by other professionals involved with a young person placed with us. Alternative Curriculum Education was founded over 20 years ago in 2000 by the Directors Marie Carrick & Leslie Carrick. Since then they have built up a team of reputable Tutors and Support Workers and helped over 1000 students achieve the grades they require to secure places at college and thus advance their learning. The centre was awarded the Alternative Education Probation Certificate from Cambridgeshire County Council in January 2020 as well as various other awards over the years.

Families Outside is the only national charity in Scotland working exclusively on behalf of families affected by imprisonment. We speak to thousands of families each year, providing information and support on issues such as housing, finance, and emotional support. Our Helpline, 0800 254 0088, provides impartial information and support and is often the first port of call for families looking for help. If family members require more in-depth support, our Regional Family Support team is on hand throughout Scotland and can offer direct, 1:1 support until a positive outcome is reached.Families Outside Who we Are What we do Front Cover Our booklet entitled Who We Are & What We Do summarises the work of Families Outside and why we believe that it is so important. We are a boarding and day school and we welcome deaf students from Reception to Year 13 (aged 4 - 19).
