We’ve partnered with the national education charity Future First, who specialise in helping schools like ours to stay connected with their former students. You can choose how and when you help – perhaps you can act as a career and education role model, provide work experience, become a mentor in person or online, or help with donations, fundraising or even apply to become a governor. We have chosen to work with Future First to reach out to alumni, celebrate success and inspire future generations of alumni at Samuel Ward Academy. It doesn’t matter when you left us, whether you’re in further education or employment, whether you still live nearby or have moved further away, there are still ways you can help.

John Ruskin College (part of Orbital South Colleges) is a successful vocational college situated in Selsdon, South Croydon. We deliver a wide range of full-time study programmes for young people and a range of full and part-time qualification and non-qualification courses for adults, including evenings. From September 2022, our full-time study programme offer for 16-18s will include T Levels. Our Apprenticeship offer is very wide meeting local employment and employer needs. Our courses run from Entry/Level 1 to Level 4 (and to Level 6 Higher Education at East Surrey College) with a key focus on career progression, upskilling for employment and higher level study. Students learn in fantastic facilities from vocationally expert teachers. Our facilities include a brand-new Construction Skills Centre.

share and repair

Library of Things and Repair Cafes. We are currently (as of Spring 2021) introducing HOW TO Reduce your Carbon Footprint workshops within the Share and Repair Shop and as a pilot project within primary schools. Another strand of ‘sharing’ is our Library of Things. We started this at the Weston Hub in November 2018 and changed our official name to Share & Repair in line with our expanded vision. We become a charity: In April 2020, Share and Repair gained charitable status as a CIO (charitable incorporated organisation) no 1189015. This is a major milestone for us and means we are accountable and can now raise funds through grant making trusts and from Gift Aid. We opened our first pop-up shop: In June 2020 we hit another major milestone when we opened the doors to the Share and Repair Shop in the centre of Bath. Our first location on Broad Street had an incredible response, raising awareness of sharing and repairing in Bath. In August 2021 we moved to another location at 3 York Buildings, George Street (BA1 2EB), which is now the new home for the Bath Library of Things and a place where we run even more repair sessions. HomeKIT launches: In Spring 2021 we officially launch HomeKIT. This is a new project that will see us taking donations of good-quality but unwanted kettles, irons and toasters and sharing these ‘home kits’ with partner charities who will distribute them to low-income households. If items need repairing, we certainly have the skills and means to do so. We’re really excited about expanding our work in this way and working with other organisations.

Deaf-initely Women is run and governed by deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing women. Deaf-initely Women serves all deaf and hard of hearing women in Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire and beyond. We give each other emotional strength to help us to cope with our working and family lives and provide opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing women to gain confidence and experience new things. Our group includes all deaf and hard of hearing women from the age of 16+ and with varying degrees of deafness and communication needs.

The word ‘tyro’ is the Latin word meaning ‘a beginner or a novice’ and at Tyro Studios we have created a space for all to learn without judgement or pressure to be anything but a beginner. TYRO Studios is a studio / retail space based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, where we host creative workshops and lifestyle events. It is also home to a curated range of gifts & lifestyle goods. At TYRO Studios we run different workshops and events from floral arranging, to modern calligraphy, water colour painting, macrame & much much more. Our spaces are inclusive and safe for all people. All our workshops are run by incredibly talented and passionate tutors and are perfect for beginners. Our tickets are fully inclusive, you will not need to buy anything from us when you arrive; this includes all your materials and refreshments - all you need to provide is enthusiasm. Our workshops are aimed at adults (18+) as we serve alcohol. Our classes are small (6-10 people) to ensure that everyone gets as much direct assistance from our tutors as possible and run from 1.5 hours to 3 hours maximum (please check your specific workshop for timings) We cannot wait to meet and host you! william edwards school

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to our website and our school. William Edwards is a large, successful, harmonious and thriving mixed 11-16 comprehensive school. Pupil outcomes across the school are historically strong. However, attending William Edwards is about so much more than just GCSE outcomes. We firmly believe that your school days should be the best days of your life and that schools have a moral purpose to extend the life experiences of their pupils. That is why we boast the largest Duke of Edinburgh cohort of any school in the East of England and are one of only a very small number of secondary schools nationally to hold both the Artsmark Platinum Award and the Youth Sports Trust Gold Award for our work in these diverse fields. We were delighted that our last inspection report noted that “pupils who spoke to inspectors were effusive about their experience in school” and that “the breadth of curriculum opportunities available at the school is a real ‘gem’ in the school’s offer to its pupils”. The school is a proud founding member of the South West Essex Community Education Trust which runs three secondary schools and three primary schools across Thurrock and the London Borough of Havering. We were delighted that our last Ofsted inspection captured our considerable strengths in teaching, pastoral care, behaviour, pupil support and curriculum. We are pleased that these ‘cornerstones’ of high quality education remain strong at the school.
