Shared Knowledge is Power - Building a Project Management Community As project managers, we do not deliver. We do not cut code or build bridges. We work with teams and stakeholders to ensure that delivery is done. The job of the project manager is about working with people, breaking down barriers, reducing risk, and managing change. To do this well, it's not about 'know what,' it's about 'know how.' Better access to knowledge-and the support to use it wisely-means faster, cheaper, and higher quality projects. At Fujitsu, our vision is about providing the ability for project managers to share knowledge and experience by interacting with other members of the community, in agile and dynamic client-facing environment. Equally as important is taking that knowledge back into the organisation. This supports the individual in developing their professional career, and supports the organization in improving its project delivery. Understanding your customers' changing organisation is difficult enough. Combined with your own ever-changing organisation and the faster pace of agile project delivery, we need to leverage more than just our own knowledge and experience. A strong project management community driven by knowledge sharing may be the answer you need. The size of your organisation is irrelevant - everyone can benefit from a knowledge based community. If you have already undertaken some training in Motivational Interviewing (at least half a day)*, you are welcome to join our MI Skills Club (MISC), which is a free community group for Educational Psychologists wishing to practise their MI skills within a small and friendly group. Because MI is a conversational style, rather than a discrete skill, it is not something that can be mastered by attending a one-off training session. While MI is a learnable approach, it takes practice, reflection and supervision to improve. Learning MI on your own is hard, and receiving objective feedback and expert feedback are helpful in developing and maintaining competence in MI (Miller & Rollnick, 2023). Cathy Atkinson and Fi Coley, who are both members of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), are collaborating to build an MI Learning Community for EPs. MINT (2019) defines a learning community as a network of practitioners interested in the same topic, and the community can serve as both a resource and a forum for developing practice. In each 90-minute online session we will focus on one small aspect of MI (micro-skills practice) and use breakout rooms with small groups to practice skills and give /receive supportive feedback. This event is open to Educational Psychologists, Trainee Educational Psychologists, and Assistant Psychologists. Building a Professional Project Management Community How do you start building a PMO that is going to truly add value to an organisation and help it deliver even more successful projects? How can you build a project management community that collectively delivers? Through this presentation Peter Taylor will describe the foundations he has put in place at Kronos, a Workforce Management Solutions provider, to build a world-class project driven organisation. This and other IIL Learning in Minutes presentations qualify for PDUs. Some titles, such as Agile-related topics may qualify for other continuing education credits such as SEUs, or CEUs. Each professional development activity yields one PDU for one hour spent engaged in the activity. Some limitations apply and can be found in the Ways to Earn PDUs section that discusses PDU activities and associated policies. Fractions of PDUs may also be reported. The smallest increment of a PDU that can be reported is 0.25. This means that if you spent 15 minutes participating in a qualifying PDU activity, you may report 0.25 PDU. If you spend 30 minutes in a qualifying PDU activity, you may report 0.50 PDU.
