Children First Learning Partnership

children first learning partnership

London

May I take this opportunity to welcome you to the Children First Learning Partnership website, The Children First Learning Partnership was established in April 2019 and is a small but growing multi academy trust made up of Primary and First Schools. We believe our name captures what is at the very heart of all that we believe in and will drive our future development and growth. We pride ourselves in the support, challenge and encouragement that we provide for each other and believe every school in the Children First Learning Partnership is unique, diverse and bursting with talent that will always be actively encouraged. We work tirelessly to ensure our pupils love to come to school, know how to keep themselves safe and make friendships based on respect, honesty and trust. The difference we can make to our local community is also very important to our schools, our multi academy trust promotes this cohesion to develop a sense of pride and responsibility in our pupils. Collaboration is a key driver in our motto ’ Inspiring Excellence Together.’ We have a proven track record of school to school improvement, which we believe has allowed schools facing difficulty to rapidly improve. Alongside this success it has allowed those offering support the opportunity to be able to grow leaders and specialist teachers for the future. By doing so we can ensure that our pupils receive an outstanding and innovative curriculum, which promotes a wide range of exciting and aspirational learning opportunities, inspiring a thirst to learn and the skills to work independently and alongside others. Our broad range of professional development opportunities, using key evidence based research, are both bespoke and MAT wide. We also actively encourage regular networking, peer mentoring and coaching across our own multi academy trust and with others. This has been a privilege to oversee and the sheer potential and capacity it is creating for us is inspirational. Thank you for visiting our website, however you would be very welcome to visit one of our schools, to hear about their journey and the difference the Children First Learning Partnership is making to them. Look forward to meeting you soon. Mrs Abigail Rourke CEO Children First Learning Partnership, National Leader of Education.

London

The London Suzuki Group ( LSG ) was founded in 1972 and was the first group in the United Kingdom to teach music by the Suzuki Method. With 60 qualified teachers and over 600 children currently receiving tuition, the LSG runs individual and group classes, orchestral and chamber music courses, workshops and an annual residential summer course at Bryanston School in Dorset. The group offers instruction in violin, viola, cello, piano, flute, recorder and voice. Public and private concerts are regularly organised at venues throughout London and elsewhere, providing much more than the opportunity to learn an instrument. Children and parents form lasting friendships. Parents and teachers are able to share experience and ideas. Music, and the love of music, becomes a natural part of the life of the whole family. Talent is not a prerequisite The Suzuki approach stimulates and develops musical abilities inherent in all children. Despite its sustained record of success exemplified in the many distinctions won by LSG students in music examinations, competitions and scholarships to major schools and conservatoires, the LSG’s overriding achievement is the provision of joy through music making, and the enrichment of the lives of the families involved in the learning process. You can find out more about the Suzuki Method through our website. If you are interested in finding a Suzuki teacher If you are interested in finding a Suzuki teacher, please have a look at our Teacher Profile page. Liverpool

Only 19% of the digital tech workforce in the UK is female, compared to 37% across all sectors. It’s proven that the gender gap costs the tech sector time and money, but it also contributes to the challenges we have sourcing talent and widens the digital skills gap. Our exploration of diversity Our journey began in 2013, as Liverpool Girl Geeks. We created a community of like-minded people in Liverpool who wanted to progress gender equality in tech. In the beginning we organised meet ups for adults, but we soon realised that we could make a real difference if we mobilised the community, so we began running educational programmes led by industry with the aim of helping minority groups progress. In 2015 we launched our first educational programmes for teens. We recognised that we needed to work with girls as young as twelve to tackle the gender stereotypes that are so entrenched within women by the time they reach adulthood. What we noticed within our first few cohorts of teen girls was the lack of background diversity. Students that attended were from similar backgrounds, with supportive parents who may already work in tech (or a related field), from mostly white families, who could afford to bring their child to the sessions we were hosting in Liverpool City Centre each week. Our Co-Founders are women who have both grown up in low income families and wanted to make sure that our programmes reached girls from different backgrounds. As two (relatively young!) white women, they were also acutely aware that we needed to work with a diverse set of industry mentors to ensure that we had a broad range of people of all ages, backgrounds and identities to inspire the students. This includes working with male role models too, as we don’t want to exclude anyone from our mission. A turning point was at the Big Bang Fair in 2016, where we were exposed to hundreds of schools across the U.K. The students that attended were from different nationalities, ethic backgrounds and a multitude of faiths. We realised that to engage a truly diverse range of young people we had to remove all barriers to them accessing our programmes. Shortly afterwards we rebranded as InnovateHer and took our educational programmes into schools. We prioritised working in disadvantaged areas across Liverpool and Manchester. Since then we have worked with girls from a broad range of backgrounds; including families who are asylum seekers, looked after children, girls in faith schools and girls who identify as non-binary, trans or queer.

The Globe at Hay

the globe at hay

Hereford

The Globe at Hay is an independent arts centre embracing an ever-changing arts landscape. In 2008, Hilary Lawson, an already long-standing resident of Hay-on-Wye, saw that the Methodist Chapel at the end of town was up for sale. Thinking that this uniquely creative town would benefit hugely from access to a gamut of arts and events, The Globe at Hay was founded. Believing firmly in the ‘Town of Books’ and our local community, The Globe at Hay pledges to invest in making a space where all can come together to share in culture and expression. We want to ensure that being based rurally is no barrier to exceptional events. In our programme, you will find films, live music, talks & debates, workshops, art exhibitions, courses and opportunities for schools. We believe that in a small community like Hay-on-Wye, an arts centre has a duty to work with its audience and listen to feedback so that the programme is always diverse and relevant. Year-round, we showcase talent found on our doorstep, and we are proud that we have a local audience from the town, as well as people that travel from further afield. Over ten days in May, when the world turns its attention to Hay-on-Wye for the festivals, The Globe at Hay works alongside the internationally renowned music and philosophy festival, HowTheLightGetsIn, on the riverbank of the Wye River. We have an education programme that focuses on creating work that encourages students and teachers alike to explore big topics through creative and experiential workshops. The Globe at Hay is particularly committed to ensuring that our work impacts hard-to-reach young people, and we are constantly exploring new funding streams to carry on this work. At The Globe at Hay, you will find our cosy and welcoming café and bar, run in collaboration with our Burger Me Restaurant. Our talented Head Chef has specially created a variety of delicious burgers guaranteed to get your taste buds tingling. We also have a huge range of side dishes, sharing plates, desserts and specials. We also have accommodation with our Stay in Hay cottages, Small Brook and Southwick (the latter available in late 2022). The Globe at Hay exists to ensure that audiences from both near and far can find exemplary arts and events in this unique and rural location. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
