Nexus has over 35 years’ experience offering a specialised professional counselling service to survivors of sexual trauma. Nexus also provides training and education workshops across Northern Ireland on topics such as consent, relationship and sexuality education, internet safety and child sexual exploitation. Every year in Northern Ireland there are thousands of sexually violent crimes reported to PSNI, and thousands more that go unreported. Without specialists support like ours, victims of these crimes will find it even harder to deal with the trauma they experience. The impact of this trauma can be devastating and is lifelong. From April 2019, Nexus also manage the 24 Hour Domestic and Sexual Abuse Helpline, which is funded by the Department of Health, Department of Justice and the Department for Communities. The purpose of the Helpline is to offer support, advice and referral for any victim of domestic and sexual abuse in Northern Ireland. The Helpline also offers support and advice to those concerned about victims, those with concerns as to whether abuse is occurring and to professionals.

Examples such as mindfulness and breathing techniques used in yoga for centuries are now commonly taught within main stream medicine as ways to help calm both body and mind and are able to bring about positive physical and emotional changes. Neuroscience is providing ever-increasing understanding of our amazing human brain. With that knowledge come practical skills and tools we can all use to help regulate our emotions; to better manage our minds and find happier and more fulfilled lives. The more we learn, the more we understand the value of both Yoga and Reiki in helping to reduce tension, creating balance and health in both mind and body. Amanda Roberts (Dip FRYOG: Dip FTCT: Reiki Master/Teacher) is founder of Bodhi Studio. She now practices as a therapeutic counsellor, yoga teacher and Reiki Master in West Sussex where she lives with her husband Matt and their black Labrador Sid.

I am on a mission to help people to heal themselves by understanding and incorporating love and care into their lives by using a whole host of tools that I have accumulated over my life. Over the years I have created a great deal of change in my own life and this has inspired me to share what I have learnt. A huge turning point in my life drew me towards coaching and using self love healing and angel connecetions/readings as a modality to create a fantastic life. My own metamorphosis was created by a deep understanding of pain that hit me when my life fell apart and my relationship pushed me to face up to every decision that I had ever made. In 2020 when the world was tumbling around all our ears, I decided to train to be yoga teacher, I love yoga. I believe that it helps us to heal, integrate and bring more love into our lives. This then helps us to understand who we are. I have been meditating since 11 years old and trained to teach this during my Reiki training and then again in my yoga training. I love the spiritual side of life, I am also fascinated by science. When I am not on a journey to heal and love...I adore reading, yoga, going on holidays, studying and having fun with lovely people.
