blade education
The team at Blade Education highly values lived experience as a central part of
any successful project. We believe that the answers to many issues begin with
valuing what members of any community can tell us about what they need for a
successful outcome. Wherever possible, we hold lessons, sessions, and events
outside. All ages and all kinds of people get involved in Blade Education
projects. People have volunteered for us from the age of 8 to 103. From HMS
Leigh, a community led heritage and arts project that connected people of all
ages with the history of Southend Pier, also known as HMS Leigh, during WW2.
Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the Arts Council and Southend
Borough Council, this project was created as part of the VE 75 celebrations in
2020 and survived to be one of the first post pandemic lockdown in person events
in September 2021. Our latest project, Southend Safer Care Leavers has developed
a free online information service for young people supporting the knowledge
already given and ensuring they are ready to take charge of their own health
care. Thanks to all our supporters and volunteers from a wide range of
organisations and funders, Blade Education for nearly two decades has been able
to offer wonderful learning experiences to thousands of children, families, and
the general public. If you want to know more, please do get in touch. We would
love to hear from you!
