Angela Pilkington – Managing Director / First Aid Trainer Angela PilkingtonAngela has been involved with first aid since the 1970’s when she trained in First Aid at Work and became a member of the British Red Cross Society. She gained the IHCD (Pearson) BTec Level 3 Ambulance Crew Award and has for more than 3 decades, carried out ambulance work for the Society and also worked for an independent ambulance company – mainly covering motorsports at Snetterton race circuit. She is also experienced in covering other sports events – rugby, football, horse jumping; public fetes, concerts, and NHS patient transfers. For several years during the 80’s Angela was a volunteer manager for the Red Cross Therapeutic Care Service, responsible for a team of volunteers working in hospitals and centres across the region, fitting this in with her other work. For 3 years Angela worked as a school nurse at a large senior school in Norwich, during this time she was invited to become a part-time First Aid and Child Carers Tutor at City College Norwich. During her time there gaining qualifications in management, marketing and a degree in education. Angela then became full-time Commercial Training Manager for Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex Red Cross. As well as organising a big team of Trainers part of her role was acting as an NVQ Internal Verifier and training Trainers. Along her varied career path she has built up a wealth of knowledge and expertise which reflects in the training courses and level of event cover P & K Training Services can offer. Founded in the 1930s, HCC was one of the first specialist horticultural distance learning colleges, enabling people from anywhere to gain rewarding skills in horticulture and gardening. Our former principal Oliver Menhinick was recognised for his contribution to horticultural education with awards including an MBE. Throughout his 30 year IT career, John has been privileged to visit many different industrial, commercial, government and military sites including steel works, car manufacturers, factories, offices, power stations, petro-chemical, and electrical, gas and water utility installations. He has completed projects throughout Europe (The Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Luxembourg and Switzerland) India, and the Asia Pacific Region (Cambodia, and Australia). His career started as a British Telecom apprentice in the 1980’s in the City of London and he has worked in many city financial institutions. In 1989 he left to join J.O. Grant & Taylor as a junior project manager, in 1990 he joined Electrical Installations Ltd as a project and bid manager in the structured data and voice cabling sector and worked on projects such as British Steel Scunthorpe and Redcar, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, and Cranfield Institute of Technology. Working for himself in 1996, he installed servers, switches and desktops into UK Job Centres nationwide. 1997, saw him join Computacenter as a Systems Engineer and he worked at some notable clients including Lloyds TSB, HFC Bank, Mecca Bingo, HSBC, British Energy, Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Severn Trent Water to name a few. 'I set up Carbon³ IT in 2009, my own sustainable IT consultancy, providing information, products and services to clients looking to reduce energy costs and to reduce their IT impact on the environment. I wanted to take all my years of experience in other roles and incorporate it into something I was passionate about. Alongside this I did a BSc (Honours) in Technology with Environment and Development with the Open University, graduating in 2010. I am on the BCS Green IT and Data Centre specialist group committees and have taken the Foundation Certificate in Green IT, the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres, PRINCE 2 Practitioner and ITIL Foundation qualifications. I am currently part way through my Chartered IT Professional qualification. I regularly speak at events on the topic of Green IT & Data Centres and I am well known throughout the Data Centre Industry as a Sustainability Expert. Since December 2011, I have been the lead Assessor on the BCS CEEDA (Certified Data Centre Energy Efficiency Award) programme and since September 2012, I have been the reviewer of applications to become participants on the EU Code of Conduct for Data Centres.'

Outdoor Gear Coach researches, writes and publishes books and materials for better understanding of textiles and outdoor garments, and to add training of usage skills. OUR MISSION IS TO: Increase the depth and breadth of understanding of textiles in the design and use of outdoor garments to the benefit of all sectors of the outdoor activist and professional community. Embrace all aspects of performance from physiology and nutritional (This is the vital source of heat, which your garments are designed to conserve ) to terrain, weather and layering techniques. Provide one day workshops for Continuous Personal Development (CPD) training for outdoor professionals and lead eventually to a qualification ‘certified garment professional’. COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY Outdoor Gear Coach is a UK based, not-for-profit CIC (Community Interest Company). Our objectives are to serve the outdoor activity community with publications and training courses about products and garments. This community includes anyone participating in any of the following activities. Walking, hill walking, backpacking, scrambling, rock climbing, mountaineering, orienteering, cycling and mountain biking, ski touring. This includes all activities where product and human physiology information linked to skills is needed for competency, safety and enjoyment in all outdoor and mountain environments, over 7 continents. The community of outdoor activists we aim to serve comprises 6 sectors. 1.Individual participants purchasing and using the equipment and clothing for personal use. 2.The professionals who are making, sourcing, designing, selling, and buying for resale. 3.Journalists and individuals who write and blog in printed and digital media about outdoor products and garments. For the above groups there is little or no training with personal accreditation of knowledge or skills. 4.Outdoor education courses in colleges and universities. 5.Outdoor skills training. This group comprises highly skilled, trained and professionally accredited outdoor professionals known variously as mountain leaders, climbing instructors and Guides. In the UK there are 13 different qualifications, operated under the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) as Mountain Training UK which relates to the Union Internationale des Associations d’Alpinisme (UIAA) who train and accredit in 20 countries. These members of the outdoor community provide skills and safety training and are the best placed to deliver product knowledge and related skills which are personalised to the end user under training. 6.
