Keynes,

Guidelines for your practice given the current COVID-19 pademic There are a few things that we now have to do... You MUST book your space online as class numbers are limited. If you or anyone you have been in contact with has or thinks they may have COVID-19 please do not attend the session. Bring your own mat, equipment, blanket, and water to the session. Scan the QR Code fo the NHS Track and Trace App if you are using it. We must always keep 2 metres between us and place our mats to allow this. I will have some cones to mark out mat placement. I will not be adjusting you hands on during practice or providing the hands on settling during relaxation. Please be kind to your fellow yogis – we are all coping in different ways and some of us are more apprehensive than others. General Information about the classes. All classes are designed to be suitable, safe and enjoyable for beginner and intermediate Yogis. Adults of all ages are welcome. Please let me know if you have existing conditions by email or telephone prior to the class. For the 90 and 75 minute class - Class format is generally a gentle warm up followed by a flow of postures to increase body temperature and then a range of poses to build strength and increase flexibility. We then move to gentle stretches and twists to cool down. The end of the class usually consists of a breathing practice to calm the body and mind with a final section of relaxation to close the session. For the Beginners class - Class format is similar in order but focuses on the foundation poses with extra time taken to ensure correct allignment and movement into and out of postures. For the Gentle Yoga class - Class format is similar in order but at much less intense level. The class is aimed at those with limited flexibility or reduced strength who want to gradually build and improve both areas. For all classes each person is encouraged to focus on their own practice and to do only as much as feels right for them. We are all different so a posture that one person finds easy another might find more difficult. Yoga is an excellent way to improve your own strength and flexibility against your own starting point - wherever that may be. I use a combination of demonstration, verbal guidance and adjustment. Each posture will be taught with options to practice the next stage or level if the Yogi wishes Every week will have a different focus; some postures will be familiar every week others will be introduced to keep the class interesting and fresh. For the Beginner... It is best to wear comfortable clothing such as leggings or jogging bottoms and a T shirt. Socks, a warm fleece or jumper, maybe even a blanket are useful for relaxation at the end of the class in cooler weather. Some water to sip on is a good idea in hot weather. Please bring your own yoga mat.

City of Birmingham Choir

city of birmingham choir

Birmingham

It is our Centenary in 2021 and 2022. Since 1921, the City of Birmingham Choir has entertained audiences with a wide and adventurous repertoire. Performing in historic Town Hall and in magnificent Symphony Hall, we have enjoyed a warm musical partnership with the city’s outstanding orchestra, the CBSO. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the choir continued to rehearse and present performances online. We have enjoyed rehearsing and performing together again since the autumn of 2021 as well as giving live concerts in Symphony Hall, Town Hall and Tewkesbury Abbey. Our Centenary concert centrepiece is Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony in November 2022. Read about the choir: History and Concert Archive. Our Conductor and Musical Director is Adrian Lucas. Adrian brings a wealth of experience as one of the country’s leading choral directors and conductors. Composer, teacher, conductor and all-round versatile musician, Colin Baines is our Accompanist. We have sung the major choral works as well as challenging newer compositions and a wide range of smaller scale music. The standard of our performances draws consistent praise. In Symphony Hall… As well as the CBSO, we have worked with the Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Swan, BBC Concert Orchestra, Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra and Westminster Chamber Orchestra. We joined the CBSO Chorus and CBSO for the much-praised centenary performances of Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius, The Apostles and The Kingdom. We have performed some of the more intimate choral repertoire in ‘out of town’ venues such as Tewkesbury Abbey and Gloucester Cathedral. Easter 2017 saw our second hugely successful and enjoyable overseas tour – singing Handel’s Messiah in the Stephansdom in Vienna – following a tour to Paris in April 2015. A highly acclaimed performance of James MacMillan’s Seven Last Words from the Cross, our stylish annual Handel’s Messiah performances, collaborations with Birmingham Schools Symphony Orchestra (Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast in 2017), Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 with period instruments – these are some highlights. Amongst our 90th birthday celebrations was the ground-breaking Equinox concert bringing together musicians from many cultures. A Christmas Treats CD was recorded in the same year. Exploring both more familiar territory (Handel, Bach, Monteverdi, Brahms, Mozart, Haydn, Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Holst, Britten, Finzi), and less well-known, (such as Samuel Wesley, Howells, Rautavaara, Kenneth Leighton and Jonathan Dove), we continue to plan enterprising programmes. June 2015, saw us in jazz mode, performing the popular Zimbe! and a new composition, The Rain Queen, by our own composer, John Barber. Paris Tour 2015 - Notre Dame, Sunday amParis Tour 2015 – Notre Dame, Sunday am We also perform for other organisations, including Raymond Gubbay – Spectacular Classics, Christmas Classics, Beethoven’s 9th, Mozart’s Requiem, Carmina Burana and Karl Jenkins conducting his own music to a packed Symphony Hall. Conductor, Adrian Lucas The Choir is committed to supporting choral music making and has participated in Making Music’s Adopt-a-music-creator scheme as well as running singing competitions and workshops for people of all ages. We are proud to be an independent organisation promoting and financing major choral concerts with professional orchestras and soloists.

Saint Mawgan

Alchemilla is a modern herbal wellness clinic located on the beautiful Cornish coast. I offer high-quality products and services which celebrate plants and herbal traditions from around the world and across the ages. One of the main aims of the apothecary is to revive the role of the traditional herbalist, skilled in the preparation and dispensing of tried and trusted remedies. Just as we expect our food to be grown with love and care, so should we expect the same from our medicines and those who create them. “Where do your medicines come from?” I stock a range herbal tinctures, syrups and teas, all have been handpicked for their high-quality ingredients and environmentally friendly ethos. Products manufactured here in the apothecary carry the HerbMark logo which shows they have been created by a practitioner trained in the manufacture of herbal medicines. You can read more about HerbMark and what it means here, and visit the herb shop here. Alchemilla was created with the aim of protecting and sharing herbal knowledge so that it can be passed onto future generations. I’m a writer at heart, and thoroughly enjoy curating content to help encourage more people to rediscover the joy of herbs. I write widely about home medicine making skills in my newsletter, and have also written a number of articles which have been published in a variety of journals and magazines. The intricate art of prescribing and preparing herbal medicines for use Iridology, Chinese tongue diagnosis, naturopathic cleansing, and holistic nutrition In addition to my studies, I also completed 500+ hours of clinical practice working in a variety of diverse herbal clinics and dispensaries across the UK. Every year, as part of my practice and commitment to my profession, I undergo additional professional training to ensure I’m always up to speed with any new developments in the herbal world.
