It is our Centenary in 2021 and 2022. Since 1921, the City of Birmingham Choir has entertained audiences with a wide and adventurous repertoire. Performing in historic Town Hall and in magnificent Symphony Hall, we have enjoyed a warm musical partnership with the city’s outstanding orchestra, the CBSO. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the choir continued to rehearse and present performances online. We have enjoyed rehearsing and performing together again since the autumn of 2021 as well as giving live concerts in Symphony Hall, Town Hall and Tewkesbury Abbey. Our Centenary concert centrepiece is Vaughan Williams’ A Sea Symphony in November 2022. Read about the choir: History and Concert Archive. Our Conductor and Musical Director is Adrian Lucas. Adrian brings a wealth of experience as one of the country’s leading choral directors and conductors. Composer, teacher, conductor and all-round versatile musician, Colin Baines is our Accompanist. We have sung the major choral works as well as challenging newer compositions and a wide range of smaller scale music. The standard of our performances draws consistent praise. In Symphony Hall… As well as the CBSO, we have worked with the Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Swan, BBC Concert Orchestra, Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra and Westminster Chamber Orchestra. We joined the CBSO Chorus and CBSO for the much-praised centenary performances of Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius, The Apostles and The Kingdom. We have performed some of the more intimate choral repertoire in ‘out of town’ venues such as Tewkesbury Abbey and Gloucester Cathedral. Easter 2017 saw our second hugely successful and enjoyable overseas tour – singing Handel’s Messiah in the Stephansdom in Vienna – following a tour to Paris in April 2015. A highly acclaimed performance of James MacMillan’s Seven Last Words from the Cross, our stylish annual Handel’s Messiah performances, collaborations with Birmingham Schools Symphony Orchestra (Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast in 2017), Monteverdi’s Vespers of 1610 with period instruments – these are some highlights. Amongst our 90th birthday celebrations was the ground-breaking Equinox concert bringing together musicians from many cultures. A Christmas Treats CD was recorded in the same year. Exploring both more familiar territory (Handel, Bach, Monteverdi, Brahms, Mozart, Haydn, Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Holst, Britten, Finzi), and less well-known, (such as Samuel Wesley, Howells, Rautavaara, Kenneth Leighton and Jonathan Dove), we continue to plan enterprising programmes. June 2015, saw us in jazz mode, performing the popular Zimbe! and a new composition, The Rain Queen, by our own composer, John Barber. I am a certified Blossom and Berry Baby Massage and Baby Yoga instructor and a qualified Hypnobirthing Instructor with The Calm Birth School I also hold as BSc in Social Science and have always been interested in people, other cultures, why they do things & how they benefit both families and society. I am married to Andy have a little boy Hugo R Hart our very own HRH – he is both my why and how for becoming a Baby Massage, Baby Yoga and Hypnobirthing instructor. I loved Hypnobirthing and the tools it taught me to prepare for a safe, empowering and positive birth. Despite our birth not going to what we had ‘planned’ or rather what my first preference was, utilising the tools and techniques my husband and I had learnt through Hypnobirthing we were able to have the best birth ever!! Like many I found the first few months of motherhood very overwhelming – my world flipped 180 in both an amazing and positive way – which obviously I am so grateful for, but also in a scary and at times, lonely way. I am Felicia and I am the founder of Shimmering Light. I have learnt a few of holistic therapies, such as Reiki, crystal healing. As well as mediumship and psychic art. I have recently created an online Holistic shop, as part of Shimmering Light umbrella. I am pretty sure that this path found me more than once. But only until am i ready for this journey. Lessons learned? I don’t know, but what I do know is, is that I’m still learning. Just like you are. From when I was young, I was surrounded by the spirit world, essential oils, reiki and crystals. My Mum, learned Reiki and worked with essential oils. Both sides of my family have the intuitive gift, see Spirit and have a knowing. From a young age, it was noticed that had been gifted with mediumistic/psychic skills. In my late teens, I shut down my mediumship. The reason being because no one understood the world I saw. I couldn’t explain things I had already seen and how I knew things, that I couldn’t possibly know. I guess I wanted to be “normal”. But is only when you get older, you learn to accept yourself for who you are. Around 3 years ago (2015), when my Grandmother died; was the time my mediumship started opened back up. Bit by bit, therapies started to pop up. A few months after the funeral, I booked on to a Reiki course — level 1. Which opened my sense up more. The difference this time was I felt ready for it. I joined an open development circle. Went on to do Reiki level 2 and then I was invited into the closed development circle. On top of that, I started to learn spiritual healing. I wanted to know the difference between Reiki and Spiritual Healing. I continued to develop my mediumship and psychic art skills at the Arthur Findlay College, Stansted. My journey didn’t stop there! After Reiki 2, I created a business. Just like that, October, 2015 - Shimmering Light was born. Little did I know, the plans spirit had for me! After 6 months, of being a business I had signed up for my first exhibit at Olympia, April 2016. The one thing about being spiritual, and dealing with energy, is that you never have an idea when your vibration is going to change. In 2016, I was suffering with severe depression and anxiety. I was signed off work for a total of 6 months. I was lost in my own darkness. I focused on the darkness rather than the stars which was showing. Now, I reflect back on it, I find myself wondering if my depression was triggered because I found something I got satisfaction from but I didn’t own it. I felt tied to my Monday - Friday job. I stuck at it because I felt like I had to. Until June 2018, I took the leap of faith. I left that job, with nothing under me. I’m letting the universe catch me. Writing this has given me a little awakening. The more I fought against my soul’s desires the more I fell sick. The stronger my will came to follow what I really wanted to do, I became happier and hardly sick.

This is what we seek in a tutor in order to provide the best lessons for the student. Only with an 8 or higher and a genuine interest in the relevant subject will such a top tier student be selected. After an initial interview, it is up to the selected candidate to show us how he or she teaches. If that is sufficient, the teacher who has been hired will enter the training process, consisting of one or more trial lessons in which an actual lesson is simulated. During the entire period up to the first lesson and after that, the (prospective) teacher is extensively supervised by a quality manager who has several years of teaching experience and has shown superior results. Only tutors who are evaluated by students with an 8.0 average or higher for multiple actual lessons are given a permanent place in our team of tutors. All permanent lecturers take part in an advanced training programme, which focuses on improving teaching fundamentals, such as didactics, pedagogy, interpersonal communication and presentation skills. Students are often tempted to (only) make summaries and re-read or highlight textbooks, with the misleading idea that this improves their study results. Based on the available evidence, these study techniques are rated as being low utility learning (Dulonsky et al. 2013). I haven’t always been in the holistic arena. I spent many years working behind a desk in shipping before the call of my intuition uprooted me and led me to quit my job, sell my house and car, and put all my possessions into storage and travel the world for a few years. When I came back to the UK, I had the notion that I had to get my chakras sorted out, and found my way to a place called the College of Psychic Studies in London where I did a 2 year degree as a Spiritual Healer. Around the same time I trained to be a Reiki Master, Theta healer, Aura Soma practitioner, and I also made a truly life-changing decision when I found my way to hypnotherapist to Stop Smoking. That 2.5 hour session saw me swapping one addiction for another as I undertook extensive training in hypnosis, then regression therapy and found my passion in helping people to understand and trance-form their subconscious patterns to liberate themselves from old patterns that have been holding them back for years, decades and often lifetimes. And that’s what I do now – my passion – which is helping people like you to be the best version of yourself that you can be, by clearing and releasing the past in whichever way is most beneficial and helpful for you.
