ReVamp Boutique

Colchester

Described by Essex County Council as a  "A sustainable role model business!" Our story....When Sarah & Simon met in 2007, Sarah had just renovated her home and Simon had no idea what change of direction was coming his way! A few years on, after the birth of their son, they both recognised that they had more in common than just love!  Their passion for creatively ReUsing everyday items became fun and constant ReThinking anything from a shells to furniture to their most recent project an Upfurbished Lodge ReTreat in Suffolk. With Interior Design experience Sarah started to incorporate ReUsing in her schemes, recognising a “gem” that needed some ReLoving and clients started to offer her pieces to upcycle. Not long after she had her first furniture sale and commissions followed!  And so ReVamp Boutique was born! With basic carpentry skills from school Simon started to adapt some of the pieces under Sarah’s design eye and soon Simon took an interest in the upholstery side making this a formidable creative team. Sarah’s passion is to share some ReVamp secrets, and returning to her teaching experience she  gleaned at a local college, she now runs creative ReUse workshops which are not just sustainable but fun, sociable, excellent for your well being and the best gifts for family, friends and loved ones! The business has now undertaken many commissions, with Simon now an accomplished upholsterer and Sarah a furniture artist seen at Grand Designs and Westfield Stratford & London. The couple now have premises to run their workshops, take commissions and sell their statement furniture as well as their Retreat, the complete ReVamp experience, available for booking now. We would love you to get in touch to catch the infectious bug of upcycling and ReUsing with us!

I'm a Mum, business owner, environmentalist, singer, truth seeker, writer and essential oil lover! I love connecting with like minded people and I am so pleased that you are here! My passion is educating about the power of plant medicine and empowering families around the world to live happier, healthier and more sustainable lives, as well as achieving financial and time freedom. Let me tell you where it all started! I have always had a fascination for our environment. Fossils and nature intrigued me and I went on to study geology at university. For many years I worked as an exploration geologist then a hydro-geologist. I learnt many things, including how delicate and fragile our environment is, and how important it is that we respect it. It made me think about where our drinking water comes from, where it goes to and how vulnerable our water supplies are to pollution. I discovered that pollutants from everyday household rubbish can easily (and quickly) end up in our drinking water, and many of these pollutants are readily bought off the shelf in our local supermarkets. It made me really start thinking about what and how much I was throwing away. Then I became a mother! After the birth of my son, I became even more interested in how our environment, and the products that we use, could affect our health. I discovered that we are surrounded by an increasing range of toxins, carcinogens, and irritants in common use around the home, garden and workplace. Products we eat, breathed or put on our skin every day! I was horrified and decided that something had to change. So I started looking for solutions and GreenLifeOrganics began. I believe that our health and our environment are interlinked in ways that we will never fully understand, but if we strive to improve our environment, then there is a good chance that our health will benefit. And if we all make small changes towards leading a healthier and more sustainable life, then there is a good chance that our environment will benefit.

Belfast

Belfast Tool Library is the first tool lending library in Northern Ireland. Tool Libraries work just like any other library. You become a member and then you can borrow tools. We’re not-for-profit, and are applying to become a charity. The team behind BTL are all volunteers. We’re from lots of different backgrounds, but share the same passion to build community, and to share skills and resources. There’s definitely a few tool geeks among us too - but you would expect that, right? We’re located at the former Belfast Met/Rupert Stanley Building in the old woodwork workshop. After lying empty for some years, the building has been taken over by Vault Artist Studios, and brought back to life. It is off the Newtownards Road and close to the centre of Belfast with parking available. Our goals are simple. We want to: Promote DIY, making and repair skills through the sharing of tools Make Belfast a more sustainable city Create opportunities for learning and development Bring people together, regardless of who they are or where they come from Sounds great, right? We plan to have a community workshop which is open to members, a space for working on your own projects and learning new skills. The workshop will have larger fixed tools and equipment available for members to use. In the future, we hope to run classes in DIY, making, building and safely using tools. Belfast Tool Library received a set up grant from the National Lottery Awards for All scheme, for which we are very grateful. We are also indebted to all our supporters, volunteers and those who donated tools. Our ongoing costs will be met by donations and the support of members. You can join Belfast Tool Library today below.

We noticed there was a disregard to how people were being taught to deal with their everyday job roles. They were mainly being taught ‘out of a book’ by trainers who did not actually have real life experience. This got us to thinking about other training courses that were also being taught in this way. After thorough research, we gradually began to add further training courses for businesses that needed practical training solutions for their employees – e.g. for first aid, safety and technical elements, and so their organisation would be fully regulated and compliant. Our vision is and will always be to ensure that all of our clients have access to the most relevant training courses and practical, solution-based assessment, consultancy and training development services – whenever and wherever they need it. We fully understand the importance of treating each client as an individual, which is why we consistently respond to delegates individual needs and requirements. Our team of carefully chosen experts have a tremendous wealth of knowledge and experience in their chosen training field, and they work closely with our clients to enable them to achieve their goals within their required timescales. We all take great pride in passing our knowledge and enthusiasm onto our course delegates. We believe that by doing this we will become the provider of choice by providing practical based training not on offer anywhere else. By achieving this we will build a sustainable and respected business, which will help businesses become better at what they do. At Oakley Training & Consultancy, it is our belief everybody should have access to the right training and equipment so that they can cope with any medical emergencies and carry out their role at work safely and efficiently.
